For a shard name im leaning to the word "Scathelok" or something to that affect. What do you guys think of that name.. I broke it down. Scathe means=injury and Lok means=Evil....so umm evil injury?? lol But it was orignally someones last name but it was so hard to find that word that i could even make my own definition for it or something. But as a general shard name what do you guys thinks?

If you make your shard name based on words, they should mean something. A completely fictional name would be good, but a name based on words like yours is should most definitely have something to do with your shard.

Just think of these things: What will the storyline of your shard be. The main surroundings of your shard. The purpose of the players on your shard. Then with these words you will find something.

My shard name (Loktus Lumina) is pretty complicated and connected to a pretty long storyline. The original words where Lokta and Lumina. Lokta standing for sproutling, and Lumina standing for light. Together it'd form something as a young tree of light. Though the meaning of it doesnt exist out of the exact same words, but something with the same meaning.

well see thats thing with "ScatheLok" it means basically nothing so i can use it as a city name, or the worlds name, or even a lord or kings name.

yea i agree, if you use a name like that you need to incorporate it into the storyline for example:

my shard is called Tribal Legends, the entire shard is based on clans etc

Crabby post what you want your shard to be about. I mean a basic history, special features, rp/pvp, atmosphere, races. All these will help people help you come up with a good shard name

Yeah, I'm stuck at naming also. Hence my sig saying "nameless shard" It's actually been one of the most complicated tasks I've had short of changing the combat/damage system to something a little less UO-ish.

I dunno, I just haven't given it much thought really, maybe I'll just steal your shard name jk

well i plan on having 3 races. 1 is human and 2 others (Deamonic maybe). There is 2 continents connected by a land bridge. Basically its almost like 2 countries that are at war. But thats the good thing because you are a human you dont have to fight the other race you can just go over the country and live there if you like. Or you could fight for your country. Its all up to you.

It appleas to all crowds tho. RP for races and govt's. PVP for the wars between countries. Crafting because i added tons of more ores and woods and craftables. PVM, im adding dungeons and Dupre's Token system, where you have to fight to get tokens.

well its not war based. You dont have to participate in war. You can do whatever you want really.

but the main part of your shard is the war between the two demonic races. And if you make this war pretty big (supported by scripts and all, so that the two demonic races just can't converse, trade or generally be friends) then the war will be the centerpoint. Humans could then be the only race that can trade with the both of them. Therefor both demonic races might have special abilities which humans dont have, as humans are at home everywhere.

u know Armada you gave me a good damn idea!!! for the two continents i could have one side for a deamonic race and the other side for another deamonic race both controlled by a very powerful deamon. And i could the use the island in the middle or somewhere else as a home for humans who want no part in the war but can travel wherever they like...how does that sound?
