I was having a good day, managed to knock together my dream map in the best part of 3 hours. I then run dragon and log on, i run a round a bit and after a while i think... hmmmm surely its not this hard to find landmarks etc, so i downlaod UOAM, when i load it up my mouth hits the floor, my work of art has turned into... well.... not what it is supposed to be, because i drew out where i wanted all my towns citys etc.

I was wondering if someone could tell me how to make it be a carbon copy of my little paint drawing?...

and no the map hasn't just been rotated it has been changed.

what do you mean by carbon copy?
It might help to see a screenshot though..

in 3 hours you don't make a good looking mapfile.

Then, if you're running UOAM it places the standard towns (OSI ones) as a separate layer over the map. Unless you are telling it otherwise, it is not displaying anything besides that :P.

If that's not the problem, try clearing out the .diff files in your UO folder; run dragonSP and clear all the current statics. That should do it.

I think he means one of the 1:8 ratio maps like those in the screenshots page.

Ok firstly in 3 hours i made a complete map perfect, this was able to be done because i spent about 4 hours perfectly sketching it on paper, i then just transfered that to paint....

next, UOAM reads directly off map0. So i do not get why it should show it as distorted.

and i can tell it is different, is it something to do with SP?

oh wait. i think I know. UOAM shows it distorted because the OSI world is round. If you didn't make use of the auto-scroll (in other words, pasted something else but water on the edges) it will look all mixed up.

If you look in InsideUO (really useful) or in UOAMs full-map thing you should see a normal one.

*edit* and it took me several months to make a decent map. But then again, I kept on changing it, adding things etc. Even with the sketches I made before. But they dont look the same anymore at all :P

UOAM doesn't show it as round it shows lots of maps... anyway i checked on my inside uo and it is still wrong, here is the basic problem...

On my paint i had 3 distinctive islands and some specailly placed smaller ones...

After dragon and sp was done with it turned into 3 continents separated by 10 tiles. I am all for a bit of change to my map but this is a tad silly.

just because UOAM dosent show it dosent mean that it isnt there, look at it through something else like the map thing in-game or insideuo until you get uoam fixed

3) I know it is wrong because i can jump from continent to continent and i have paths leading into walls... and no cobblestones... and basically the whole map is wrong. I will try to set up a page on my freewebs site

I just read a reply from another post saying that dragon can create its own map0 file. You think this will make a difference?

Couple things realy fast.. I suggest using a program like Photoshop, or Paintshop rather than MS Paint.. I think that MS Paint can work, but I have never tried it, and there are always people using it that get massive troubles..

your dungeon area is way too wide, but you have no land mass going through the clients divider, so I dont see any issue there, yet..

Yes, you have the map and static areas from the Dif files. there are several threads here on how to avoid this, and remove.. search for them, and the keyword TileMatrixPatch if your using RunUO.. although they will still be visible on the UOAM.

Thats all I have time for atm, maybe someone else has some input.
I will remove the images in a couple days, when its resolved.

I doubt this is the issue, but certainly at this point its worth trying.

2 things

1) Can i join the water box things at bottom to add 4th continent
2) Would someone mind running it though dragon for me to see if they get same result

Also my dungeon area should be fine considering i am just using the template i got with melodys ms paint tutorial

1) Yes, you can join the 4 water box's at botom, with no trouble.

2) No one could run that MAP through Dragon, because its a screenshot

I realised it was only a screenshot. I mean if i sent them the MSpaint map, would anyone be willing to run it though drag, that is ofcourse after i have designed a 4th island to go on the bottom

Maybe, maybe I should put up a download for you of Paintshop Pro.. and if you sent me the map, I might be able to convert it to a standard mod 9 palette for Paintshop.
If you have a decent connection, I will concider this.
