I am very confused of the ways of DRAGON, and have finally given up.
I have a sketch of the basic map of my world and scanned it. I was asking if I could send the image to someone, and the could turn it into a world for me. I would very much appreciate it.

Right, You would be much better off plugging away with Dragon. Start with a simple Island. Make the center a different land tile, like grass island, with forest in center. Get the feel of how to use dragon..
By this I mean -- make your island, Start dragon, compile your .bmp to the mul files, then put your mul files into the UO folder and log in to see that island in game. Once you do this a few times it will become second nature.
Then expand from there.. theres always someone here to answer any questions you have from your troubles.

I say this because making a map is more than just painting it up on a bmp image, and compiling it with dragon. Its getting the forest density perfect in each area, hills just right.. mountain grade just the way you want it, at every different direction you have them sitting.. your point of view of perfect will not be the same as someone that might offer to make your map :)

That is about the best starting out advice you are gonna get, and from a master map maker as well. I think Rose should sticky that as a "New to mapmaking" tutorial. Speaking of tutorials, download Ry's tutorials and dragon mod 9 (NOT 9+ it's broken). I'll be releasing mod 10 hopefully by the end of this week but the tutorials will confuse you because I've changed a lot, stick with 9 til you are comfortable with Dragon or we get some mod10 tutorials written.

the mod #'s are versions of the color palette that you use in Photoshop (or other paint programs )

When you select a color to paint on your bmp.. you are selecting a color from the 'Mod' or palette. I would say, if you downloaded any fairly recent version of dragon, you have Mod 9.

Sounds like you have a Dragon 1.0.500. The standard version you find most places has incompatible tile transitions to the Mod 9. Try to find another download source. If no luck, post again and I can try to place one here. (will take some digging in my HDs for a default setup )
Look for a version that says 'Dragon + Mod 9'

I only have two questions now, it is about the Statics. When I run it, do I clear current statics, or don't I. My other question is when I do my map, the OSI statics still are on my map. How can I fix this?

Yes, clear statics. Otherwise whatever was currently in them will just be added to. In your case the OSI statics. However there's also something called dif files. Do a search on them. It's been discussed exhaustively.

I tried rendering my map time and time again with MOD 9 + DRAGON and still is deformed and not working. I use the MOD 9 Color table with proper colors, and in 256 color mode. I guess I will just need to find someone to do my map.

Well there is a big part of your problem. The uo3d client is screwed. Don't even bother with it. I know Ry and some other people try to work around it, but I am not even going to bother trying to support it in the next mod. If it works fine with the 2D client I don't give a shit what it looks like in the 3D. I haven't used gimp myself so I don't know how it handles palettes, I do know with photoshop you have to be sure to change the images colortable if you've changed your swatches around so a map created for one mod has to have it's colortable updated to the current one. Finally, stop being such a whiner. I wouldn't make a map for someone who quits so quick and easy, because if you're going to give up that fast on Dragon, you're probably going to give up just as fast on running a shard so why would I waste my time.
