Should someone create a irc chat for map help?

Forums are perfect for asking questions, but perhaps an IRC channel dedicated to mapmaking would be neat. I'd certainly join it :>

Make one where UO already is important. Such as irc.tragena.net if Rosethorn allows it. Even though the majority is just 3 people, if ryandor puts it on his site I do believe more people will join :)

as my gms complain that i never visit our irc chat it would be nice top have an other chat, which is important enough to get me idling in mirc.

I don't have a problem with an IRC channel dedicated to map making, however the problem would be being there on a regular basis. At this point, real life tends to get in the way of being available on IRC.

I have, however, considered holding a semi-regular IRC get together. Kinda like a moderated Q and A session that they have on Stratics sometimes.

Still, the channel doesnt have to start out full. but there are alot of people (like me) that spend alot of time on IRC. I might not be able to answer alot of the map making questions, but it's a start. But I'm sure it'll be used more then for just map making. ;) Like talking about map-ideas and stuff as well.

i would agree that a constant irc is good andf then for HOC (house of common) sessions we could use this small software called teamspeak. It is an actual voice chat that you could use for Q&A sessions..

baaah all the information is here already they can just come here and search (not that that really happens) but they dont have to ask the same question repetitivly in irc that would kindof give me a wedgy to sit on a channel all day getting the same group of questions

I couldn't agree more.
Besides it takes too much time away from mapmaking.
It's a lot easier for me to even check this forum every few hours while I am sitting making a map than to chat realtime or more people would have my ICQ#.

make a channel like #maps or #mapchat or something ( I like mapchat )

If people wanna be there, they will be. Armada is on that irc fulltime, Dragonfire is on when he's online, and I'm on there fulltime (I host it so if i'm not there odds are good the server is down hehe)

Probably moving it to another host in the near future, but the server dns you connect to will remain the same.
