Is there some prog that will allow me to view a map w/o having to host it? I just want to view a map as you would see it as a gm or player without having to boot up my own server.

Thanks.

ok if you want posative info there are three options.

1. look at it in WF, dosent look like tiw ill in-game tho.

2. yea start up your own shard on your internal ip (127.0.0.1) I sudguest Runuo its fast and easy, sphere shouldnt be too hard either most emu-all-in-one-packages.exe come with all the files you need and instructionsmon how to get them running. :D

3. be high and lofty like stormcrow and use insideuo

yes, just edit your login.cfg in your uo folder (after you back it up) or use uog.

if you edit login.cfg you will something like:

;Loginservers for Ultima Online
;Do not edit this file or patching will fail! Always save a backup.
LoginServer=login.owo.com,7775
LoginServer=login.owo.com,7775
LoginServer=login.owo.com,7776
LoginServer=login.owo.com,7776

this is what you want it to look like:

;Loginservers for Ultima Online
;Do not edit this file or patching will fail! Always save a backup.
;LoginServer=login.owo.com,7775
;LoginServer=login.owo.com,7775
;LoginServer=login.owo.com,7776
;LoginServer=login.owo.com,7776
LoginServer=127.0.0.1,(port)

the port depends on the emu uox/runuo use 2593
ex. 127.0.0.1,2593

where as POL uses 5003
ex. 127.0.0.1,5003

or if you use uog:

1. goto "my shards"
2. upper right, click "custom shard"
3. input a name
4. input the ip in the ip field
5. and iknput the port in the box after the ip field

get it! got it! good! If you know the stuff above I am just stating it for others newcomers who donnot know. :D Good luck

What version of Sphere are you using?
It sounds like a compatibility issue between the Sphere core version and the Sphere scripts version. However in the X and Z releases of Sphere that isn't uncommon. If you are using 55i check out: http://www.geocities.com/cenedra_of_tol ... torial.txt for how to fix a bunch of garbage.

Axis is the GM Tool for Sphere, you can download it off Sphereserver.com.

However as a long time Sphere user, the best piece of advice I can give you is this: Screw Sphere, switch to RunUO.

Yes, learning C# is always a great alternative for those unable to use sphere without problems :roll:

http://sphere-axis.sf.net has the Axis gm tool, you can add/summon/etc with it. Those errors look like you're loading the spheretable_x.scp spawn defs before the chardefs.. or something. No version by default comes like that, so it's something you've tweaked.

I'd recommend the new sphere revisions versions done by kell. It's 55i (that you're using) only fixed. The link Stormcrow suggested for the bug fixes are about 99% useless with 55R*, as the bugs have been mostly if not all fixed. 55r3 should be out very soon.

irc.tragena.net #SphereEvo for more updated info on the revisions.

www.tragena.net/files/RevisionsR3.15.txt for the current changelog from 55i to the 55Revisions series.. reversed order so newest stuff is at the bottom.

Awww c'mon Rose, C# is easy. Besides learning C# is useful in the real world. Who would have thought gaming could be educational? I figured you would have left the Dark side by now hehe. :wink:

C# may be useful in the real world, but I get paid to create ads and shuffle paperwork... not program. I don't see any reason to have to learn to program in order to work on my UO shard. If I *were* going to learn to program, it'd be C++ without a doubt and nothing else first.

Besides... I left the darkside too. I don't use "their" sphere anymore, I use Kell's. The 99* series are a joke, 55r* series are unbelievable ;)

*shrugs*
You don't need to know a whole lot to make RunUO work. It isn't like you have to manually compile code, the server does it automaticly. Granted if you wanted to write a bunch of custom systems then yes, you need to learn a lot more programming, but to run a basic OSI clone shard, even with a custom map isn't rocket science. Most of the stuff is in plain English and it isn't that much harder than advanced Sphere scripting (Yes, I'll agree that basic Sphere scripting is child's play). The other thing is that the Sphere engine itself has a lot of flaws and Sphere has no real future. The only reason I stayed away from RunUO initially was because of dot net. Anything new from MS is typically chock full o bugs and the dot net frame sounded like a nightmare but it has actually turned out to be something decent. Besides, I have to have it to run GPMC remotely and other fun 2003 stuffs that I just loves.

Anyways, we digress. If you're happy with Kell's, then I'm happy. What was the original topic here again? Oh, yeah, Jellybeans and his server. If you are new to the emu scene I would start learning about them all and decide from there. Good luck, whichever emu you choose. For testing purposes though you may want to use something quick and dirty, like an old version of UOX or strip most of the scripts out of Sphere, POL, RunUO just to make a quick mapwalker.
