it says in the tutorial to customize the pallete, and with photostudio i cannot do that...niether with photo shop pro.

i have a new question, a friend of mine made a map, and we got the error when trying to use dragon that the file size was wrong, then he changed it and it got bigger and bigger...what do i do arg so complicated...

Go to http://www.ryandor.com/file/pafiledb.php?action=viewall

Yes you can. Its all in the tutorial. When you make a new file you choose specific pixel settings that I dont recall at the moment with white background and other settings. The palette thing you go to choose a new palette choose custom palette then load the palette file. Then you load the image file representing the color graph.

I know that sounds confused. Its because I'm new to dragon. But that infos right in the tutorial. And I use photoshop 8 so I know you dont need 5.5.

P.S. I might look through the tutorial latter and repost the information there.. hopefully in a way you will understand. But then again you could just read through the tutorial.

Any version of Photoshop after 5.0 will work fine. I do not reccomend any other program, as I don't use it, and therefore I can't give help (although others may use different programs and they may be able to help). I currently use Photoshop 7.0 myself.

The tutorial you should read first is:

http://www.ryandor.com/files/makingmaps.11.pdf
(right-click and Save As so you have a copy on your hard drive)
That has most of the basics you'll need to know.

After that, read through the FAQ forum for specific questions.
You can also do a search, and it may turn up a few other things too.

As for setting your map, you'll need to go into your client directory (where UO is installed) and BACKUP the files: map*.mul, statics*.mul, staidx*.mul, mapdif*.mul.

Then delete the mapdif*.mul files and put your new map0.mul, statics0.mul and staidx0.mul files in there as replacements. Make sure that the client is not running when you do this and also shut down any server you may be running.

Well if you were to simply look down the list you would have seen a download called "Map Making Tutorial". I mean really now, thats a little lazy.

But no matter, Ryandor has already provided you with a direct link so that you wouldnt have to look down the list of items to download.

See my previous post in this thread regarding how to put the map into the game. As for Axis, since I don't use it, maybe some one else will answer that.

Axis dont need anything to load the map in the section world map, but the hogloc.txt is not good anymore because it use the old location of the old map (like britain and all) so you will have to do it all over
but thats not long
