Just curious, how do you think a very low magic oceanic world would work out in UO.

More specifically, teleportation spells are very limited and the majority of the world would be composed of strings of small islands.

I know boats aren't the most developed part of UO but do you think it could work out? Any ideas or criticisim would be accepted greatfully.

Depending on what EMU you're using... and also depending on what you have on the islands. Though could be really neat. I personally like smaller islands.
Anyway to check on the spells and what not would be best to check the emu's forums.

Sprite, that idea is very cool, and similar to what I'm doing. (Well, oceanic part at least -- my shard will rely heavily on the sea)

So far I'm keeping magic mostly the way it was before AOS, but like you I plan on limiting magical travel -- I removed gate and recall from my shard (i'm using RunUO).

Since I was limiting my players' travel, I thought I should make a map that was much smaller. This would also serve the purpose of keeping my smaller playerbase in closer quarters (i hope). My solution was to use a different map size than the traditional fel/tram map. The ilshenar map works perfectly for this, and it is around 38% the size of felucca.

I'd love to hear what inspired your ideas. My icq is 110996573.
