Hello Coldfire..

I can?t really comment on the other things you said, but yes Tragena is running on Sphere. Version 99x5 I think at the moment. We could be running on the latest version but we are still building so it really isn?t important.

As for the amount of posts on these forums, I think that really it?s the place you come for help or to help others.
Not many shards use custom maps. Many people may start a map with visions of something grand! But the fact is custom maps are very difficult to make. Anyone can drop a few flat islands on and ocean. Getting the map to look interesting and play well (not to mention look real) is the hard part!
So not all that many people come here. That being said, I also believe its a nice little community where you can always get friendly help & advice.. what more could you ask for?? lol

I too agree that there aren't many shards with custom maps. The work that needs to be done for them is massive and most people don't feel like taking the time. Or, most people don't like to build the towns.

I prefer custom maps as well as custom work. I feel it's more creativity as well as more rewarding in the end. Although I will admit, it's MUCH more work then most people would assume. I should know. I ran Brisbane for a while, created the map with Leon, and built half the world by myself. heh. But When players came on, all we got was praise. :)

Anywho. Those are my 2 cents.

Well... Its very, very common to see people come and go here, at Ryandors boards, new people come ask the same old most comon questions, as if they were the first person to ever post here... But you get that on any forum for that matter.
At any rate, I can definetly relate to anyone out there that has put time into thier map, I have almost one full year into mine now. My wife as well, has been building for our map for a year. She was building stuff out in Green acres of OSI map while I was struggeling with map making.
Yes, mountains are very hard to make.. (and thanks for the complement) Yet, once you get your own tecnique, you can whip out mountains in no time. If I had to remake every mountain on my map right now, I would estimate the time to take about 8-12 hours, to finished. (cave/dungeon entrances included, with WF).

So in short, all you need is the desire, and the rest.. well, is patience.
My shard is running full time now, on UO Gateway, and growing very fast. Im sure you can make a good map as well, maybe better than mine ;) if you really are serious in completing it.
One tip though.. you cant really make a supirior map, if you are useing the default Dragon scripts throughout the entire process ;)
