I've finished creating my map, but I still have some problems near the coastlines. Here's an example:

Image

This is similar throughout the map. Is there any way to get rid of these "black squares" all around the coastlines? I tried everything I know to solve this, and I tried to use DragonSP, like said on the other post talking about coastlines, but it still doesn't work. Any idea?

Thanks for the help.

You sure you're copying the statics over?

Statics, not normal map tiles, must be used for coastlines. Looks like no statics are in that image?

No, there's no statics. I cleared them all when I saw that putting statics everywhere (selecting all the "scripts" in DragonSP) didn't do anything.

I tried selecting all the scripts in DragonSP many times... but there was never good coastlines. I even tried using the program called "UO Coast"... but again, no results. I really don't know what to do.

Sounds like your not putting the statics0.mul and staidx0.mul in the right place for your client to see them.

These are required, and are generated correctly using DragonSP if you want the good coastlines.

UOCoast also does a passable job of creating coasts. It's not the programs to blame, I just think that you need to make sure the the statics0.mul and staidx0.mul files are in the right folder.

I don't think this is the problem... Because when I selected all the "scripts" in dragonSP, it created a map full of statics. There were too many of them. Everything was there, from mushrooms to trees, but coastlines weren't there.

I really don't know what could this problem be...

then select only the water2x and x2water scripts, and nothing else. Are those two there? and if so, what's the numbers it tells you for item count?

You know, that pic almost looks like to me, that the statics are there, but they are in that dirt bank. maybe your bank altitude is too high for the water line. If you know how to edit the map with World Forge, Try to sink one small area of that Dirt/Grass Bank down to -5, or -6 altitude, and then see if the water edge lines are really there, just in the dirt.

Other than that.. Maybe you have gotten that copy of Dragon from some site that altered the scripts, and you are not aware of it.

Doing some research on your last post (I checked under the coasts... and everything), I discovered that the coastlines ARE there, but they're not at the good place. Take a look at this screenshot from InsideUO:

Image

The coastlines for this island are there, but ... just at the wrong place. Any idea on how to fix this?

Did you have the island there first and just forgot to rerun DrangonSP after making the changes? That's the only reason I can think of.

Ohh no I just forgot to mention that the statics for this island... it's like this for the whole map.

Every place where statics should be, they're just misplaced. Moved as in the picture above. It's like this for the whole map.

And yes, I ran DragonSP way after finishing running Dragon. My map is finished, and the only things to fix are the coastlines.

Any idea why DragonSP misplaced those statics?

Does it do that with all the statics or just the coastline? Because I noticed that you only have the coast and nothing else.

I think that it's just a coastline problem. The other statics are OK (I think). I didn't really notice if the other statics were OK or not.

Well I'm just asking because I noticed that you didn't have any other statics on you map. All I saw was coasts.

Still, the problem is that the statics are misplaced. Any idea how I could fix this?

All I can think of is that maybe your scripts are messed up. Try downloading dragon from this site and see if that works.
Sorry... that's all I can think of. I've never seen this before. I can't recreate it. Ryandor is a smart guy... maybe he has some idea.

Sorry, I've never seen this either. I don't know...

Only thing I could think of is something wrong with the bmp.. but that's a long shot.

By the way, what is DragonSP looking at when it creates the statics?
It asks for locations of Statics files, but not the map file... How can it find where to put what if it doesn't have any map file specified?

The scp files that DragonSP uses are actually created when you run Dragon.
Dragon looks at the map bmp you make, and calculates and creates all the scripts that DragonSP uses.

Effectively, all DragonSP does is freeze them. Therefore all it needs is the statics files, and not the map.

Ok... I've got news on my coastlines problems.

I've looked everywhere (on every computer of every members of my team) to search for THE one that made the final map. Every single computer misplaced those **** statics... :(

I'm getting sick of this... But I thought of something... There was a program called "Dragon_m2b" ... this program took the map to put it into bmp right? So if I recreate that map with this BMP took from the map, and then place the statics using the scripts Dragon would have just created... would this work? If you think so, could you give me an URL where I can download dragon_m2b please?

Techincally, yes, that would work. You have an unusable map0, but the statics could be used.
Not at home to check best source, but look at uocm.de for a copy. It'll be in the Dragon download file. I'll upload a copy of it by itself later.
