Ok admin khaybel told me to use run uo and use dragon for making a map


well ive never used either so i wanted to make the map first.. to get to know dragon.. i used there full map... so i opened up the first program and put in the dragon.bmp file to make the .mul file then when i went to the dragonsp program i was not sure what to put in staidx0 and statics0 so i put dragon.mul in both of them and set the thing on the left to select all the stuff that i wanted frozen then i clicked start and it got to 10 percent and gave me an error...

so i tried it again and took off some of the options and left stuff there like grass and water then did it.. and it made a file called dragon.xxx first off why did it give me the error when i tried doing everything and when i selected just 2 items it made a 1.25 gig dragon.xxx file.. what do i do with this file.. how do i use it as a map and where do i stick the map at for run uo to read????


also when using the first program to take ur bmp to a mul file... what goes in the fix file section?

Your best bet is to read through the FAQ's and tutorial. That gives you a good idea of how everything works together, and how to use Dragon.

I did read it... it didnt help me.. im now just stuck at the sp part. after i make my map0.mul file from the bmp... i dont know how to set up dragon sp... like what to put in each of the things ... staid and static and then i dont know where to put all the files and what to name them so it works with my shard

does that make it clear? Make sure you put the FULL path in however. And use a copy of them just in case too.

Really, if his FAQ posts of the entire process does not help you, I dont see how 'catching' him or anyone else on ICQ will help any better.

nevermind i figured it out the only problem i have.. is that i downloaded a custom map from http://members.cox.net/darkshard/maps.html which was map #5... now after i made all the files the map and stai and static i stuck them in the uo folder.. but when i opened run uo and launched the shard (first off ive never used run uo before plus i need to know what admin tools i can download since i cant use axis on it... but anyways... all the osi stuff was on there.. like npc,s doors and signs etc..

Well all the items you are seeing are from the default deco that the emu has anlready placed. Helps to know what emu you are useing though.
If it is RunUO, you can open the RunUO/Saves folder, and run the TotalWipe.bat ( I dont think they put that in there anymore though )
If not, just empty all the files in the folders in there. Of course leave the Accounts.xml
and you will be set.
Other emu's, like POL would need the Items.txt file removed from POL/Data folder. you could simply delete that, and it will generate a new blank one at startup.
Basicly the same goes for most other emu's...
