How would I go about updateing the map?

for instance I built some things on my map file then froze them into the map file by useing world forge... my map isint compleat so I went back to the bmp file and worked on it some more.. ran Dragonsp and everything (went clicked no for clear stratics) then went back into the game to find all my floor tiles I had placed were gone.. the other things were still there but not the floor tiles :(

there has got to be a way to update your map without looseing all your floor tiles or whatever

I assume you are refering to floor tiles you 'painted' in with WF map edit.
Well, there are ways around loosing them, but this really depends on what changes you are makig on the map, and the area you are changing.
If you are just changing a small area, you can use UO Copy, and copy the new map area you modified, hopfully around your floor areas.
But if your floors are within the area you are modifying with the bmp, and dragon.. you could simply copy over the new map area in whole.. then, go back and copy in (using UO Copy, or UO Map Copy) your floor areas you had, individually, into the new modified map area.

that make any sence?
Ay way you look at it, if you have to edit the map with Dragon, after you do a lot of World Forge work, you are going to spend a lot of time piecing parts back together. :?

come again? lol

ok maybe this would help a little

I didint use WF to do the painting I was in the game laying down the tiles and whatnot then used WF to turn them into Statix and Statics files.. then I went to edit the bmp then use dragon

I was only adding another dungeon to my dungeon area and my floor plans were in a dungeon so it must have had something to do with the Translationfiles :( anyone got any tips?

You have to be careful adding or changing anything on the map when using Dragon. The reason being is any map changes you do in WF will be overwritten by Dragon, and any Statics you place will be wiped when you run DragonSP.

There's a couple of things you can do to prevent loses.

First, Do everything you can possibly can do in Dragon and DragonSP before you do anything else. Then, consign yourself to not use it after you do any manual changes.

Second, If you have to make map changes, use a second map for additions and changes, then imort these changes from the new map to your "master" copy after the fact. If you are just making static changes, then save a copy of the changes as exported wsc or scp files. Then you can re-import them when ever you rerun Dragon. This can require a little bit of precaution and planning, but it can save you the headache of doing things twice (or more)

Does this explain it a little clearer?

You don't have to create a copy of the bmp. Just make a new map0.mul when you run it through Dragon.

As for importing the changed area from the copy, read up on UOCopy in FAQ's and the tutorial.
