That Items.wsc file (you are correct, btw) is the file that you would use to and from your EMU, and World Forge. This file holds the Items that you want to 'freeze' into the Statics0/staidx0.mul files that you export from your UO world.
When you Melt an area of you statics files, that is where the items will go also. and is why World Forge basicly will not allow much functionality unless it reads one.
If you dont have one, you can create one.. Just make a new text file, and lable it items.wsc. Then put in the path of that file, to World Forge. Of course it will be blank ;)

Ok thanks. When I make my own map for my shard, do I have to use UOX3 or is it possible to still use RunUO client? Also how hard is it for people to set up their UO directorys to play on a shard using a new map? do they have to change tons of files or is it easy?

There are a whole list of files you can customize (map0.mul, map2.mul, verdata, multis, skills. etc). How many you change, and to what extent, is completely up to you.

But to play on your shard, players will have to change their ?login.cfg? file to point to your server.

If you have a custom map, then you will have to make your map available to be downloaded. This is a 72 meg. file, but is much smaller when rar?d.

Btw, I hope you are also using Dragon. World forge is great! But it's a very, VERY slow process just using WF alone.
Use Dragon and a program like Photoshop to make your map and get it up to an 'almost finished' state. Then use WF to tidy up any tiles that didnt make a clean transition etc. Also to add any custom bits of terrain that Dragon cant do.

Go to our web page at http://www.tragena.net/images/tragena.png
and take a look at our map. I made this using Dragon only! I havent started using WF yet. :D

Hope this helps a bit!

You do not need to use UOX. it is one of the oldest EMU's out there, thus having a lot of familiar ways to many people of wourld building.
I use RunUO exclusivly for world building now. Have not used another EMU for anything else in nearly a month. Although we have spent a great amount of time making custom Importing, and Exporting scripts for RunUO that works with various formats of .wsc files, and even .txt files (uox), So the default RunUO EMU would be somewhat limited still.
It does have an added Export command included, [WSCExport that will export ALL ITEMS IN THE WORLD to an Items.wsc file. You would need to set the DIR path in the script to where you want that file created.

World Forge is mainly meant for map 'Editing' not making, but mainly, it is used to make your statics.... Freezing the town buildings to the statics0 ad staidx0 files, to reduce your Item count.
