Our Tragena map is going great!
But I just converted it so I could use the great mod 9 stuff..

But Im having trouble with the 'forest to swamp' transition.
Basicly its just not doing anything!

I followed the instructions. Had an area of forest at z10 and the swamp at z0 in the centre of the forest, and just got the normal transition, no clif.

I dunno why..
Except I just thought, maybe you meant 'jungle' not forest..

anyway.. any help would be wonderful!!

Thanks in advance..

A lot of what the swamp places is static, as well as Map tiles, Have you ever seen a swamp2Forest transition on OSI? ;) basicly, (I could be wrong.. it has been known to happen.. i think..) you have a couple options..

1) you could try to edit your Dragon Scripts to only place the Map (landscape) tiles, and not place any static tiles.. Dont think that will work though..
or,
2) You will probly need to make a 2 tile border of grass 10, between your swamp and Forest. but then you would only get the hillside transition, no cliff. and would need to add in the Grass bump as well.

Basicly, you will probly need to do a bit with World Forge, map Edit to complete or finish the job, wich will be dificult since the swamp tiles show up as black. (at least for me)

Hope that helps some, and will try to think of other solutions as well..
Maybe Ryandor has somthing more, and better for this.

yeah thanks..
It was my fault. I was tired while doing it and used jungle instead of forest. It works fine now.. :)

Only thing now is I cant think of a use for the 'grass bumps'!!

Seems they work backwards and can only make a hole in the ground..

All I want is a few raised areas with the cliff edges like in t2a.. not a hole in the ground.. *scratches head*

yes, your exactly right. they are created backwards from how you would expect them to be. I have not reworked that in script yet, since i have not used them a whole lot, i simply corect it with World Forge.
I will be working with them a lot in my next map project. So i plan to do extensive work with the script, and transitions of them with dragon. Untill then, or untill someone beats me to it, thats my suggestion. World Forge to correct it :)

Yes, the grassbump transition is backwards. To get it to look right you have to have an area of the light colored grass surrounding the regular color grass. What I do is create an area of the grass with the light color then inside that, put the areas of normal grass color. As long as you don't try to make a "bump" inside this, it'll work.
Like this:

This is the best use for it I've found. bascially this is a forest that opens up into a large clearing that has a "maze" in it. The clearing is at a lower z than the surrounding grass and forest, and the ridges form the "walls". (there's the head of a river in there as well, and the light colored grass extents to ocean to the south)

I envisioned this area to be infested with a lot of weak, but overwhelming creatures, which can lead to players running at random, cuasing them to possibly get lost. Of course it depends on recall/gate not being available.

I'm sure you can think of other uses for this transition, this is just one that I thought of that looks cool.

I was working as a senior counselor for OSI on Atlantic and spending about 20 hours a week there (till I left 2 years ago) plus my playing time (about 30 to 50 hours a week).
My wife told me to give up UO or she would leave me!

I really miss her sometimes!

lol
I shouldnt really laugh... it really happened!

oh well.. I got the house! lol

woooh, thats funny and sad at the same time..
I guess, its appropriate time as any, My wife and I had actually met In UO. Spent about a year+ together there before finaly meeting. Got married just a few months later. Our one year aniversarary is next month 8)

So, i suppose things between the Husband and wife with UO included, is a bit different for me, than most.
