I'm considering buying a Full T1 line. This will be my first experience with a connection like this. Up to now its been broadband cable.

Anyone have any experience or advise for me? What are the things I should look for and/or consider?

So are you saying I won't be disappointed? :)

Its a little pricey, but I'll make about half the cost back in the expense I'm paying now to lease a game server, a web site, and my current broadband cable bill. So about $200 more a month out of pocket if the rates I am being quoted are correct (around $475 a month for a full T1).

I don?t think it?s any better for downstream than a good cable connection. In fact, it?s often worse. Upstream, however, is unbelievably better! A must-have for any kind of server.

Yeah, a full T1 is what I am looking at - 1.5 mps in both directions.

You could also go with SDSL (Synchronis DSL aka Square DSL)

It runs up and down at the same speed. And if you're close enough to the CO in your city you can pull up to 2.5 speeds, for alot cheaper than a T1.

Only 1.5 down? They're right, it is worse than DSL for downstream. But the upstream is definately a good thing. My DSL is 3.0/0.8. I'm looking at a 3.0/3.0 but it's also about 420-470 a month... so meh.

I say make sure you aren't being taken on the price, and it sounds like you aren't... so do some heavy duty serving *g*

I'm running cable with 2.7megs down and 1.5megs up. For 50 bucks a month its more cost effective than T1's which I consider about as up to date with the times as a 56k modem...

You don't need a T-1 to play UO unless you have about 200+ players which I don't think most of us have to worry about any time soon since there are only 5 left in the community.

8 bits (b) in a byte (B), 1024 B in a kilobyte (KB), 1024 KB in a megabyte (MB), 1024 MB in a gigabyte (GB).

So 3548 Kb = 3.46484375 Mb = 3633152 b = 454144 B = 443.5 KB

394 Kb = 0.384765626 Mb = 403456 b = 50432 B = 49.25 KB

What company do you use, Dev? I have about four down, but practically nothing up, for the same price through Comcast.

thats my down and up accordingly according to what i tested at on pcpitstop. I have comcast as well and it works for my shard except the intermittent line lag from the boxes outside my house sucking ass. They have fixed it like 4 times and still broken, guess they like insanity.

See- insanity. Insanity is caused by doing the same actions repeatedly with expectations of a different outcome.

Currently I have Adelphia, they sent a notice a few weeks ago that they were doubling the up and down bandwidth to double what it was before.

I did do a speed check on and its actually true, they delivered on a promise for a change.
