Hello all,

Im new to the forums please dont flame me, I have done searches and I read the MS Paint Tutorial and I still cannot get my map correct.
This is my first time at working with maps since I quit drawing years ago. Im having some problems when I draw my map in Adobe Photoshop I must not be drawing it right because I cannot walk in the land I make and on the edges I see a buncha brown around the grass, if someone can help me solve this problem please post back. I would post the map that i have drawn but its 24.0MB I cannot figure out how to make it smaller.

btw, do you have to outline the grass and mountains and stuff with a certain brush type first before you use paint brush to draw it? or do you just pick the colors and just start drawing with those colors? Thank You all!

Take a screen shot of the land and coastal areas then post a link to it so we can see what your talking about.

The answer to your last question is no, you dont have to outline anything though I like to outline the mountains with a narrow track of grass like they do on the real UO maps just as a helpper for miners and people to place small houses.

I hope these screen shots help you, the roadway through the mountain is so huge I think thats were I used the airbrush though, I just dont understand why I cannot walk on the land I create and why the coastline is so messed up in the first picture.

Wish I could help but I don't use MSPaint. But just wanted to let you know, don't worry about being new at this or being flamed. This is one of the friendliest places in the entire UO community, no one will flame you and I'm sure you'll find a lot of people willing to try to help.

Welcome to Ryandor.com! :)

EDIT: Duh, I re-read your post and I think you are using Adobe Photoshop, which is much better, but I don't use that either, I'm a Paintshop Pro man.

One thing to check is to make sure you are running DragonSP after your map is generated to generate the statics and coastlines, and that you are highlighting all the transitions.

Yep I think HellRazor is right, looks like you need to run DragonSP.

Never appoligize for being new at anything, we were all new at one time or another. Making maps takes lots of practice to get the feel for the size of all the brushes in relationship to the end map.

Rule of thumb for roads is a 5-8 pixel brush. Its also the same one I use to make the grass areas around mountains and for coastal areas.

Change the file paths for Map0.mul, Statics0.mul, and Staidx0.mul in InsideUO to point to the location of your new map.

Try also removing these entries or pointing them somewhere else:

Mapdif0.mul
Mapdifl0.mul
stadif0.mul
stadifi0.mul
stadifl0.mul
