Okay, I am working on my custom map and decided to try out some custom tmaps to see how they look. The first map I worked on with custom tmaps was a custom map that someone else did. Now the outline of all the land and the details showed through very well.

and mine is coming out very hard to read. There are 2 pictures, one is an island and it shows the land on the other side of the island. The only part that stands out is the sand, the island and the water and the rest of the land almost blend in with eachother. The other picture is on land near a desert. Again the sand stands out but the the rest almost blends in together. All were taken using a bitmap of the map from InsideUO. What am I doing wrong?

Please help!! *begs*

I dunno about anyone else, but I had edited the entire map to show the detail I wanted. Like the map after Dragon, you go in game and find you need to edit areas.. you cant expect to just run that carto program and have it as good as the osi multimap.rle Its gonna take time.

Still though, if someone else has a better method, Id like to hear about it. I have still been too lazy to finish mine.. 50% to go, and its been probly 6 months since i worked on it now... :?

How do I edit it? Is it another color I add to the outline on the BMP before running dragon? Or do you mean edit it the copy you use for cartograph? I am very new to this and I really didn't edit anything to get the first one to work right which is why I am lost at what happened on my map. I am a noob and not afraid to say it!!

On the image you used for Cartograph, darken the land coast lines a bit. compile it through cartograph. see what it looks like, and then perfect the image some more.
