Ha, has anyone read dev's latest update on his website, I died laughing at house stupid mifune is omg. It amazes me, i thought mifune was an ok guy but that is so low its not even funny. I cannot wait till dev or someone does something. Dont get me wrong i gave dev a few graphics but it still pisses me off if i dont get asked for permission for them to goto another site.

Mifune is used to dealing with kids, which I am not. The only thing he is sorry about is getting caught.

Remember this is "try" number two for him. So if he was actually sorry why did he do it a second time? Why was his graphics comments in his news section "past tense"? Why did the comment vanish after I posted my comments?

He regrets nothing other than the lose of hits to his site.

Which by the way, is so successful as he puts it...check the hits on the right side of the page. The place is barren.

Don't be so trusting of people or you might lose what little you do have.

Dev

Well he?s been hosting one of my programs in violation of copyright laws for some time now without asking permission or even so much as notifying me of this. I actually prefer to keep downloads coming from my site so I can gauge the popularity of the tools I write more effectively as well as keep old versions to a minimum. Truth of the matter is, I?ve known this for some time, and it doesn?t bother me enough to make me want to take the time to say anything. He does give me credit, and that?s really all I care about. I haven?t (knowingly) ever spoken to him beyond an e-mail asking me for a link many months ago.

I admit, I would be a great deal more displeased if he said something to the effect of what he did about the art, and I most likely would say many of the same things as you guys. Looking at it from the outside, though, I just think it?s another stupid event that will be forgotten in a little while and thrown in the huge pile of stupid events that is the summation of the UO emulation history; one stupid event after another with a rare glimpse of something more.

Everyone is to blame for all of the stupidity, in my opinion. Some of us create it, some of us propagate it, and some of us forget it. I?ve done all three in my time.

Oh I forgot to tell you how to get 13k hits a month like "Shardwire.org" does...its really easy.

You lie and use this as your "Meta Tag"

<META NAME="KEYWORDS" CONTENT="news, new, headlines">

So every person in the world doing a search on "News" generates a hit for his site, thus the 13k hits a month. To bad their there for only 3 seconds before they realize they are looking and something other than what they thought they were.

I'm sure Mifune knows what his deception does for his hits and thus he can delude people in the UO Community into thinking that they are from people in the UO Community.....thus the success he spoke of.

All lies...to many lies anymore, its really sad when you have to lie about the size of your game community. :(

Individual ISP hits are the only ones that even begin to count. But those numbers are thrown off when its people being directed to a site that really isnt what they were looking for.

I am willing to bet that there are less than 200 individual ISP hits that are actually UO related from his site.

Just for giggles you should take all the "active" UO Gateway shards and count their "accounts" and the "average players online" and see what you come up with. Dont forget to take into account the up time of the server and throw out "Test" servers and not counting the EMU makers test shards since most would be dupe accounts from other shards. Then you will get the picture of just how "dead" the EMU community has become.

Its really sad. :(

I don?t think putting ?news? in your META tags would do anything at all. They are ignored or at best considered very low in priority for sorting in all of the popular search engines. He would be lucky to get any hits by doing that (after all, every porn site and just about every low-quality commercial site tries the same trick). META tags are pretty much only useful in telling search engines how to describe your site, not how to find it.

Hits, on the other hand, can come from a million sources other than people who care about a site. 90% of my hits seem to be bots crawling my site lately. The rest are mostly people who are looking for something I link to or used to link to. There are a few ubber-annoying bots that go overboard with giving me crap hits. If he did put ?news? as a META tag, it might make even more bots crawl his site, though.

Or it could all be lies anyway.

I get about 3 or 4 visitors a day who actually intend to go to my site. One is me, one is Ralph, one is some personal friend or relative I know, and the last is somebody looking for TSMC or STIC from Ry?s site.
