Greetings, I am running a shard on Sphere 55i... Well in all reality, Trying too... Seems I have major problems connecting to both EA's shards and my own. When I start UO it locks up on the screen before the Account and password section even appears... I am a 6 year player of UO, never had this problem before I underwent a Reformating on my C drive. Plus when I try my own shard I get this error as Sphere reaches 1%

I conducted a Virus detect and found now viruses effecting Kernel32.DLL however is there another issue I over looked? Thank you for your time.

Is this from a fresh UO Install? It sounds like you have a modified Login.cfg in the UO folder that is trying to connect to an IP adress that is not found.

Not sure about the sphere issue.. never used Sphere, sorry.

Yes and no. I just installed UO about a week ago. Attempted to log on EA's shards with the original client, login, and files. All was defualt. When I tried logging on to mine, I backed up the original login by the title Login888 and my Login became the original. Perhaps this is the error? I shall attempt to pull Login888 out of the directory and see if this makes a diffrence....
(5 minutes later)

Same error. I thought I had it fixed, but forgot I moved Sphere to another folder, Once I corrected the Save, Logs, Accounts, and other folders, It went back to that Error of Kernel32.DLL

I am about to reformat my pc and say heck with it. Here is my Sphere file.

Plus I am on 56k so I have to replace the IP everytime I sign back online, It is a hassle. Tried finding someone whom can host on cable or greater until I can atleast move out to Vegas where my office shall have t1. It would be merely to work on my Map. I may try my luck with another Emu too. My goal is to bring back some old style gaming with alot of mini quests large mining caves, no normal UO dungeons... Just a massive system of tunnels under the map. To keep lag down I will teleport the players to diffrent plains of the shard, Like Fel and Tram were. I know this is possible with Sphere, Did it before thus why I went back to it. Any suggestions?

If you are seriously concidering an alternative EMU, RunUO is the only other option (imo) You dont need to edit any files what so ever for the initial shard. Its a pure C# programming code, and a huge community for help. I wouldnt recommend anything else.

There are a couple places in sphere.ini that it says "This should be 127.0.0.1 always". Well, it's not lying. Remove your physical ip at the top by SERVIP and at the bottom under [SERVERS] and replace with 127.0.0.1 as sphere detects your ip itself unless it cannot due to a router or similar. The only place your real IP needs to be would be in your friends/players login.cfg files. Your own login.cfg should show 127.0.0.1 also.

The lock-up sounds like login.cfg problems. It's sensitive to spaces:
LoginServer=123.34.45.6, 2593 [notice the space after the comma?] for example would break it

LoginServer=127.0.0.1,2593 would be what you want for sphere. All other lines need a ; in front of them. To swap between EA servers and your Sphere server, simply move the ;s back and forth between lines, or do the backup thing like you said. No, login888.cfg or whatever will not cause the client to crash.

Sphere 55i cannot handle the newest clients, EA UO will not allow the older clients. Once you connect and patch with EA UO, you'll have to swap out the newest client with a backup older client to play on Sphere. Sphere 55i by default only works with up to client version 3.0.0g. The 55r versions go considerably higher, probably current with EA UO right now for all I know.

My suggestion? Go use Wolfpack or RunUO or something. The sphere devs are a deadend and 55i default is so full of exploitable holes it's not even funny.

You would think that after so long of no interest in updating Sphere, they would just concider releasing the source of Sphere. Even if it was just a version or somthing, It would make it worth while for others to continue using it. To just leave somthing so popular unfinished, and buggy.. well, thats not right.. either fix it, or release it. Thats my opinion.

Thank you both for your words of wisdom. RoseThorn, thank you for taking the time to explain things to me, I tried altering the Sphere file, so that the IP read as you indicated. This did not help, And I no I am not on a router.
Dian, you be happy to know that I have decided to ditch Sphere. I will be attempting RunUO. But GAWD! I will be so glad when I move to Las Vegas and Get Cable AND DSL both, they are standard where I am moving, part of the rent. Yippy. Because I have RUNUO, but I am now 69% in to a long _ss download of the.Net Frame stuff. Never used it before. So if you know of anyone whom be willing to help script, or mapmakers whom would be willing to assist on making our map, and then later having it posted on Ryandor as a downloadable Map, let me know.
I have the map done in Dragon, I just have not been able to look at it from an ingame stand point due to not being able to connect to the shards.

Well, I have downloaded .Net Framework 1.1, It tells me that I need to add more updates. I click yes, and then it says Setup cannot access windows installer components. Setup cannot continue.

Is it me or is nothing willing to give me a break. Heck I come from the 4H line of people, not the Computer Age of "PC GEEKS" No offense guys, Its just so fustrating, And you want a shard to be just a certain way, But when dealing with Mild Dislexia, and A.D.D. its a pain to learn all this scripting and getting all the files to work out. And to download something that took 2 hours and twenty minutes on a 56k to download, and have problems with it, I just want to shoot Bill Gates.

Try just going with the initial 1.1 install.. Ive never had any prompts for updates.. I am prety sure i installed it on the other PC not long ago, and its fine.

Just extract RunUO 1.0 and run the RunUO.exe If it boots, your fine with the NET Framework.

If not, its possible.. you got a corrupted download.

I know all to well what its like on 56k.. anything that could go wrong, seemed to go wrong... even the long shots.
