Are there any other tools to edit or create dif files than the one found at Punt's Toolbox? I'm not having any luck with that one at all.

After I make the dif files (map only, the statics part locks up and never goes past 0%), I put them with my custom map files in the proper directories. Then when I log in, nothing has changed, except the OSI parts that used to be there have turned into the electric blue fence looking graphic. No other changes to the map show up.

I can't just use blank dif files, because UOGateway won't patch 0Kb size files, and the tilematrix script seems to have stopped working for me with RunUO Beta 36.

As always, thank you very much for any help.

I have gotten no negative feedback on diff/merge.

I just used merge the other day (merged the diff's, into a single mul file).

Is the issue on the diff createor, or the merge ?

If you create new diffs, your emu has to active them (and they have to active the number of entires, it is in a packet).

The problem I am having is with the dif creator. I have not used Merge. Maybe it's just that I'm not using the dif generator correctly. Here is what I am doing exactly.

The reason I am trying to do this, is the script to turn off dif files in RunUO seems to not be working as of Beta 36. And UOGateway will not patch 0KB files, so I can't patch my players with blank diff files to get rid of the OSI remnants. I was trying to create small diff files so that I could patch my players, without really affecting my map or statics, yet getting rid of the OSI leftovers.

I made a copy of my custom map0.mul, my custom statics0.mul and my custom staidx0.mul, so that I had two identical copies, in different directories. I made a few changes to the copy of the custom map (not the original) using WorldForge.

Then I started up my emu (RunUO Beta 36), and put a few trees down in a forest just so the statics were a little different than the original custom files as well.

So at this point, I had a copy of the original custom map that was just a little different than the original. And I had copies of the custom statics files that were just a little different than the originals.

Then I ran the dif generator. I selected the directory the original custom map and statics were in, for the UO Directory section. Then I chose the copy of the map and statics, which had the changes, in the Custom Map/Static part.

When I hit the convert button, it got all the way through the map, but froze at 0% when it hit the statics part. After a long wait (2 hours), I stopped the program. Several repeated attempts did not get me any further.

So, I took the map dif files, put them in the directory with the original custom files (the ones I did not change). Then I transferred them over to my other computer where I run the client from, so that they were changed there as well.

When I logged in, none of the subtle changes I had made to the map were there. I checked some of the places I knew had OSI remains, and they were gone, but were replaced with the tiles that look like blue electric diamond fences.

If you, or anyone else, can tell me where I went wrong, it would be greately appreciated.
