Hi all,

I'm now working on dungeons, and I've run into a snafu. MS Paint (yeah, I know, but I can't afford Photoshop) will not let me do black 0. It changes the RGB from 70,70,102 to 71,71,102 which makes my entire area turn out as cave floor. It doesn't matter how many times I change it to the former, as soon as I paint with it, it becomes the latter.

I tried using Melody's guide, but that didn't work for me. Here's what I did, maybe someone can tell me where I went wrong.

I used the program she recommended, Ultimate FX, to change my bmp file from 256 to 24-bit color. Then I loaded up my map in MS Paint, and I was able to make black 0 the right color. I then saved it, and opened the map back up in Ultimate FX and saved it to 256 colors. I even went back in to MS Paint to make sure that the RGB for black 0 was still 70, 70, 102 and it was.

So, I ran it through Dragon and DragonSP. Now all my cobblestone tiles are 80 tile high mountains, my roads are lord-knows-what, a lot of the grass is forest, and everything changes elevation very strangely.

Does anyone have any idea where things might have gone so wrong for me? Besides using MS Paint, I mean. :)

Thank you,
Kurrgan

You should do what I do. Paint the map in rough colors through MS paint, then open it in I.Mage and fill the colors in with the right colors. Look it up on google cause I don't remember the website.

Hrmmmmm.
I had a link to somewhere selling OEM versions of software for very cheap. However they are unreachable now making me wonder if it wasn't a scam. They had Photoshop 7 for 60 bucks. Anyway if you look for OEM software you can find legal copys of software for pennys on the dollar.
