Few individuals in what I like to call ?this dimly lit world? seem to grasp why I believe the things that I proclaim to be simple truths and ramble on about the seemingly pointless subjects I find so much entertainment within. Some dismiss my thoughts as cynical or simply outright wrong and misguided. Perhaps my beliefs are just that, but for all the effort that I have put into having somebody out there turn on the light bulb in their own mind, I am increasingly finding myself disappointed and in search of a longer-lasting battery for the flashlight I?ve had with me since I was 12. Well, there?s the cynicism for you, but believe it or not, my goal isn?t to insult, it?s to trigger thought; it just so happens that the far most direct method of doing so is to subtly cause questioning of oneself.

If you don?t need to question the very fundamentals of why you do what it is that you do, and why you think the way that you think, then you?re either doing a disservice to your own intellectual health as a human being, or so innately perfect that you don?t have a reason to (that would be God if you?re religious, and impossible if you?re not). Either I?ve wondered into a pantheon of Gods, or many of you aren?t living up to your full potential as human beings. Given the average vocabulary range and skill with grammar found within the forums I liken to my home (no offense if English is your second language), I would have slit my throat years ago if I believed the former to be true.

The above having been said, I find it quite ironic that so many audacious individuals intend to work under the pretense that they understand what people want, when they don?t even understand what they themselves want. Disregarding short-term concepts (often in the guise of long-term poorly-planned ?goals?), I fail to see little more than a glimmer of abstract understanding behind any of the actions I see being portrayed in these forums. Perhaps there is a shining star amongst the likes of you, but as of yet, I?ve been blinded by a perpetual darkness. Not only does it frustrate me to see this reckless ignorance on such a large scale, it outright disgusts me. Many of the individuals I?ve spoken with not only fail to even attempt to tackle the issues addressed herein, they often become offended and seemingly increasingly stubborn regarding what they believe to be true (even if they fail to understand why, or even ask the question for that matter). Perhaps my blunt and cynical nature is the reasoning behind this (I would be a hypocrite if I didn?t question myself, wouldn?t I?), but somehow I?m dissatisfied regardless.

Turn on that little thing in your head called your brain, and think about the consequences of even the simplest of acts, and most of all, try to understand yourselves before you attempt the inhuman feat of understanding the complexities of another person?s mind, and then, maybe, just maybe, you?ll have a faint hope of tackling the complexities of the interaction between thought processes that occurs on such a wide scale as is seen on an Ultima Online server. Yes, perhaps I am taking this a little too seriously, but then, maybe you?re not taking it seriously enough? The ability to create virtual worlds with such realism is unheard of in times past, and with this new found tool is the ability to do some amazing things, if not squandered on fruitless efforts to create a world in which your misguided beliefs of what you want can become a reality. After all, the grass only appears greener on the other side until you get there (if you ever do).

Now, if you?ll excuse me, I have to make another trip to the local department store to buy another pack of batteries. It?s getting dark in here.

Not everyone in the forum is like that. Although yes, most people here are 12 year olds who think they can make a shard and attract hundreds of people and be their "god" as a GM.

*sigh* Somehow I feel you didn?t quite understand what I meant by my post. Perhaps I didn?t make myself clear enough ? perhaps I can?t.

I?m just disgusted with humanity. People lost the focus of their lives, and just don?t care anymore. After a while, I stop caring too. UO is just an expansion of that ? a miniverse in which the obvious makes itself known. Burst your bubble and turn on your light, or wallow away and die unhappy like so many do.

It?s a hollow bliss that wears away your innards until you either go insane or have a mid-life crisis (at which point, you go insane). Then you go right back to being ignorant again and start it all over again.

Sorry, you used too many big words for me to understand anything you said.

Big words make me feel smarter than I actually am.
