Hola everyone, I first started using Dragon +Mod9 couple of months ago but didnt think it had "everything", like Grass2Water yellow shoreline, the brown never looked that great. But a couple of weeks ago when the new WF was released I first got the idea to alter the T2A map for the shard I work on, Making the ground more even and such to allow placement of housing. We have a great team of scripters on the shard im working on so I had the idea to enable guild town placing. With custom houses (Like blacksmith houses, and all sorts of vendor houses...)

The idea never went anywhere but something else came to mind amongst some of the staff.

Well anyway I started on this project a couple of weeks ago by first sketching some forts then trying to find a good map to base it all on. Since ive used Dragon abit before (with mod 9) I basicly knew how to. After searching around in this great forum I got hold of Mod11 and alot of info.

First problem I ran into was that I couldn't replace the trammel map, could only make Dif files for the facet so I decided on making a replacement for the Malas map instead. Dragon now had the feature for malas but DragonSP didnt hehe. But the mapextract program really saved the day for me (thx!)

Anyway, heres the base of my map (only the shores) Im working on the forts atm, since the map will feature a new kind of system.

Reconize it? Its the old Akalabeth / Ultima 0-1 Map
I chosed it because it would work very well into the story. The shard I work on is mostly a PvP shard but we want to implement more RP. Since this time around we have focused alot of having a balanced economy and better PvM.

I figured that id start of with building the forts onto the basemap then build the surrounding scenary around it, trying to keep the old map Mountains / Cities / Forest etc as much as possible.
Ive had alot of problems so I simply halted the whole map building to fix it, restarted about 3 times but now ive learned alot so I won't have to restart again. My main concern is that im somewhat of a perfectionist so as soon as im done with the actual map im probably gonna use WF for weeks. Hopefully the NW shore problem will be fixed with a new release of dragon soon or updated scripts.

Theres a few things in the scripts I would like to change. Im sure ill find all the info on the forum, things like no trees in grass, only specefic trees in forest etc...

Btw a suggestion for a new Mod version would be empty grass. Like in green acres. Would be perfect for towns since then you could add all the flowers etc by hand.

Also id like to thank everyone whois done the tuturals, they've been a big help.

heh you can actually do the no tree stuff already , here is a link to the post in the forums for it. it is quite easy since even i understood it hehe. wich is quite amazing., it will ofcourse require alot of work to set it up cprrectly for your own map but its worth it.

Isn?t it hard to build the buildings before the scenery?

I usually let my players build their own towns/buildings from scratch in-game and then just freeze them for them (two birds with one stone kind of thing ? they?re happy cuz custom structures, and less work for me).
