The first thing I remember about playing was the green leather armor. I had done a bit of research before I started to play and realized that it was worth quite a bit and was the current "hot" item to have. So I started my "career" by selling it. I ened up with quite a nest egg. Of course it wasn't long before that was gone though.

Ranger armor, you mean, don't you Ryandor? Anyway, I remember whenever I died I made a new character because I didn't know you can get resurrected. And when I found out you can get resurrected I thought if I became a criminal once then the healers will never resurrect me so I deleted lots of thieves that way. I later found out you go blue. I was seeing if there was a bug that if you ran to the healer and back a bunch of times I thought maybe the game will mess up and resurrect you. This was all 4-5 years ago.

Hmm.... I remember running around aimlessly for a little while then having a nice army of ratmen and lizardmen run through town. The rest of the time I spent in uo that day was trying to find a way to be brought back to life

The very first thing I saw as I logged into UO for the first time as a newbie, was a freckin huge daemon flying over my character and continuing donwtown (in Britain).

Was just a player who had polymorphed - but scared the shit out of my nonetheless ;)

Oh yeah, Xuri reminded me of something. Once I saw this newbie, probably 5 mins into the game, so I polymorphed into a gargoyle and flew around him emoting *attacks* and *bites*. He was like "HELP!" and "heal" the whole time.

North of the Brit graveyard was *THE* place to be for any self-respecting PK. It was the battle-ground of many wars. Back in the day, we (I was a PK) used to go up to the cave north of Britain and build a huge base inside. We would block the entrance with ore so that it was literally impossible to get inside unless someone already inside let you in. You couldn?t move the ore from the outside because you couldn?t see it? but then they made it so you could just walk over it, and finally made it so you could move items there anyway.

I remember there being upwards of a 50 reds in that cave? was very crowded, but a very interesting atmosphere. There was usually a red every 3 tiles at least. We had furniture, chests filled with unwanted loot, games involving newbie body parts, heh. It was a blast!! I remember we used to create gates around the Brit bank? inevitably some stupid newbie would wander in? then they would find themselves in a cave packed with so many reds that they can?t see the floor. We used to see how long it would take to kill them? got it down to less than a second for even the strongest idiot.

Outside, of course, were our houses. Almost every house between the graveyard and the cave was a PK house. Anybody else would just die trying to get to their house and eventually give up. The camaraderie amongst the PKs was unbelievably strong ? it was a sin to attack another red. We trusted each other with our lives ? we had to. That?s why there were so many PKs? it was like one big accepting family that just happened to like to kill people randomly. What made it such a trusting, family-like atmosphere was the fact that it was a necessity since so many people wanted us dead, and we were so vulnerable alone. That?s why PKs are needed in every world ? without evil to face (be it real evil, like the PKs, or perceived evil, like a bunch of blues to a PK), there is no reason to band together like that. Of course, the more the threat, the larger the bonding, which is why reds had quite a strong bond ? there was a lot more risk being made on their part.

Anyway I?m done ranting and raving about that. My first memory in UO was north of the Empath Abbey the day UO opened. I killed a llama with another guy, but then tried to kill a dog by myself and died. I, too, didn?t know you could resurrect.
