Post subject:  3D UO emu/client

I did a search and nothing came up so...

Is there a stable UO emulator or client available? I'd heard that 3d gets really wanky with emulators. Is that true? If not, where should I look? I don't think the latest Sphereserver is stable. Or, last I heard it wasn't. I've been using the 55rc** version with the 4.0 client til now but that website hasn't been up so I can't check to see if it's 3d compatible or not.

Thanks for any help..

I've connected the OSI clients (2D and 3D), Krrios, and Iris, to my POL095 server, without incident. Of course, not all features are present, and sometimes things are wonky in Iris (it is, after all, under development), but for the most part they work fine.

The 3D client is just the 2D client with a few more features and crappier (IMO) graphics. Any emulator that supports the 2D client should, in theory, automatically support the 3D client. Of course, some things may not work, such as the 3D animation emotes.

Thanks for the replies, guys. My son just thought better 3d graphics, imported into the 3d client, might improve our "world", so to speak. Plus, only the 3d client supports particle effects. Yes?

I, personally, want to make a world that's REALLY 3d...not isometric.. lol But that's a WHOLE 'nother ball game. ;)

The biggest issue you will face is the fact that the 3D client is not a very fast 3D rendering engine? throw too much at it, and it will bog down quickly, even on fast computers. As a result, you get the crap that the EA artists came up with.

ah, I wondered why the effects weren't very elaborate. So, the engine can't handle anything too complicted? That's a shame.

SO...is there a Guild Wars or some other such 3d game emulator out there anywhere? LOL

Technically the bad art isn't the fault of EA artists - they outsourced the character models & textures, at least initially =)

So, the more recent stuff, including that in the Beta for UO:ML is from the EA artists then? *nods*

I have to admit some of it looks a WHOLE lot better than the old stuff.

CMS <---who just watched the latest Elder Scrolls preview and wonders why she's even -bothering- with an isometric view. lol
