Post subject:  Pre-Alpha Map Converter

So I?m pondering the idea of making a converter to convert the pre-alpha map into a usable ?modern? map. It wouldn?t be that hard, since it would only involve ?translating? tile IDs to the current versions and adding a buffer around it to make it the appropriate size.

The only limitation would be that I believe, judging by some of the screen shots, that some of the graphics may simply not exist in today?s client. It?s odd to think that the modern one lost some capability, but I know I saw semi-transparent water in some screen shots of a bridge, which showed the columns going ?underwater?. I don?t know if it is possible to reproduce that effect in the modern client (although I have some ideas on how it could be done).

It would also require a lot of trial and error to get the translations right, which I don?t have time to do. So I would write the program and let you guys make the list of ?Alpha Tile ID = Now Tile ID?.

Sound good? If so, I?ll write, and hopefully release tonight, such a program.
