I have been working on my own lotr map for 2-3 years now, working verry litle on it at times obviously, got sick of the problems with the jagged edges and lava problems so now i'm converting the whole thing to UOL. i have the main idea of the map done but theres a lot of work to do now that i have the terrain set, i want to make it more diverse etc. and the heights have nott been added yet , everything is flat. here is a curent pick. ![]() my map cant compare with endore but atleast its something i made. Also as you can see i decided to make water around the whole map. |

me and Ry have had a few discussions on the creation of a good map of Middle-Earth and decided not todo it as the uo map muls simply arent big enough to support the kind of size of map you would need for all the details if you wanted to make an accurate tolkien map. |

i'm solving some of this by building some of the cities in the dungeon areas and having a teleporter at the entrance to the city .. not a good solution but i think it should work ok for the bigger ones like Minastirith especially |

Hm, I had an idea that could work for that stuff though, with the several different maps avaliable to use, you could have it coded that instead of having the world 'wrap around' when you reach the east edge (1520) it would simply act like a server line, and warp you to the West side of the map2.mul (or other) wich would continue out some of that land. Wouldnt be too tough. |

Use your mountain passes to split the maps then you only have to do teleporters in them instead of huge areas. You can also funnel them with other terrain as well like tree's closely packed together. Middle Earth is far to huge to effectively create a seamless functional map. If you have ever played M.E.R.P. or Rolemasters Middle Earth you might remember one of their expansions called "Lore Masters" which had a new landmass that was pretty interesting and would work perfectly in place of Ilshenar or the main map.
