LOL! I was joking about that with some friends at work a couple weeks after 9-11. Bush and his merry band of chimps are as transparent as a pane of glass.

Being a 10 year vet and being a vet of foreign war already I dont think I have to worry about the draft though there have been times I would like to go back in. I was, am and will always be a soldier.

I did not buy a flag on Sept 11th...I already owned one...all my life. While I might not support the Presidents policies it is my duty to support my Country which I love more than life, if the draft is what it takes (which it will because we will not be leaving the middle east any time soon) then so be it.

If the American public doesnt like what is happening them maybe they need to get off their ass, pay attention to whats happening in the "WORLD" and not their local news and actually show up at the election booths to ensure that people who share what they think to be the "right" thing to do is elected and stop voting based off how many times a face flashes across the TV screen or lies the best during the debates.

The caste of Jerry Springer can be amusing but not when they are in charge of your life...

yea, i vote i pay enough attention to know whats going on, and i know i dont feel we should be on bush's little quest, im just not for a draft unless our nation is in peril. being forced to fight for oil prices or the almost maybe possability of nukes, or maybe it is just bush's little vendeta for his father. Hell any more i dont know what we are over there for. Its a fight that certianly shouldnt be going on any longer.

juuust my opinion on the war and the draft :P but what do i know

Is that even true? I mean, nothing on CNN (when I checked) and I heard from some people they even decline doing a draft.

You think they want to announce to the entire public that they are planing a draft? I would say, they would announce somthing like that when they are nearly close to actually doing it, to give little chance of the people finding some way to keep it from happenig.

Well, if they say they are not doing it now, and they are going to do it anyway people will most definitely complain about it.

But if they're planning it, they will probably keep it secret until after the new presidential elections.

I wouldn't count on a draft any time soon. It's political suicide. This won't get past the talk stage. We won't be in draft territory for a few more years yet.

We're more likely to see an increase in the end strength of the military, and a callup under a new executive order so that they can re-mobilize some of the Reserve units that have already served the maximum 24 months under the current callup.

We still have quite a lot of the military that has not yet deployed, but they don't necessarily have the skillsets that are needed in Iraq. We'll probably see some involuntary reclassification (i.e., mandatory training in new jobs) at some point in the near future so that we can draw upon soldiers in other skills who have not yet been deployed.
