So, i'm sitting at my desk and a friend of mine, whom i havn't talked to in ages, logs into ICQ. Long ago, we both worked on a UO shard lauched it and had lots of fun... that was about 5 years ago. So, we start chatting and reminiscing about past events. Turns out in that time i worked for about a year and a half on a custom map for a shard that was never lauched. everything was done, the map, dungeons etc. hundreds of man hours. down to the pixel. he says, "want to start up another shard" "no time" i reply... but i'm thinking, "shit, i would love to do this..." there's tons of great new tools. ultima iris, runuo, administration tools, plugins you name it. the UO modding community has it... defenitely not the case 5 years ago. the point? what is it about UO that makes me always come back to it. the game is just *appealing*. now i'm trying to find time to work on something i shoudln't be spending my time on, but i just enjoy it. luckily the vast majority of the work was already done and it's a matter of putting the new peices together w/ a but of love and programming. *SIGH* |
