I'm busy wondering what the hell I'm gonna spend $10,000 on (finally getting a settlement from when I got in a car wreck 6 months ago). New computer is definitely in the budget tho... but deciding what is getting to be a problem.

I'm leaning towards a P4 3.4ghz, 800mhz front side bus, with 2 gigs of Ram, two 250 gig HD's (with RAID controller... obviously), 256mb video with tv out, a 17" CRT monitor, and an LCD projector.

*drool*

Now if I could just bribe someone into putting down some broadband connectability here...

AMD XP 3200+, Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard, 1 gig Mushkin Level One Black pc3200 ram, Radeon 256mb 9800XT video card, Hitachi 160GB Serial-ATA 7200RPM harddrive, 19" Viewsonic PerfectFlat monitor (CRT), Logitech Z-340 speakers, Lite-On 48x32x48x16 CD Burner/DVD-ROM... new keyboard, mouse, webcam, misc. stuff.

yeah. my cd burner is faster *harharharhar* and i got 240 gb hdd, same mainboard, the rest is a bit weaker.

Only thing worth mention on mine is the 8x DVD +/- burner I got for $80 at fry's... What's sad is I haven't even used it yet, but the theory behind it is entertaining.

don't feel too bad. the one I'm using right now is only 766mhz with same ram and hd... not to mention the worst on-board video ever ejected from the anus of a . . . thing. I advise you to be sitting in traffic one day on the way to work, and then let some blind old man that's not wearing his glasses in a half-ton truck slam into the back of your car. Oh yeah, and make sure he doesn't touch his brakes either, it's a nice touch when you use the phrase "my lawyer would have a field day with that" when you're talking to the guy's insurance.


PS I'm not the money grabbing type, all I wanted was for them to pay my medical bills, but they got a little lead footed, so I started using the word "lawyer" every time I was on the phone with them untill they decided to pay up.
