Post subject: | RunUO - Your opinion |
Hi there, Today i was wondering about the possibilities RunUO has. I have never used it so i'm curious if RunUO is better than POL in the way it can be customized. There are some of you who use RunUO afaik, so if somebody may give some examples what you can do and cannot do with it, it would be glad. Currently i'm using POL whose scripts are written in escript and it's relatively easy to learn and write. Maybe some of you people have experienced both Emulators and can give a feedback compareing them both. Would be a great help for me, because i'm unsure to continue using POL or to use RunUO instead. I'm not afraid of rewriting or get deeper into C# but if RunUO has less possibilities than POL or both are fairly equal to each other, then it's no use to change. Hope some of you can lighten the darkness ![]() |

there is no challenge nor are they equal.. RunUO is by far better, and much easier to customize.. easier, meaning that just about anything you want to do is basicly already supported. Being that it uses a true program language, the posabilities are nearly endless. POL, has been around for a long time, I used it originally, and even up to the POL 094, it still had limited packet hooks, you couldnt even lock skills with the default distro. Surly they have finally gotten that to work by now.. but to see that an upcoming addition such as "path finding" to a future Distro release from an EMU thats been around so long, hmm.. you got to wonder how limited it really is.. |

It's a matter of opinion really. I really think that the new sphere revisions by kell are better then RunUO could ever be. |

RUNUO is faster and much more stable than Sphere. It is harder to script all the "Cool" stuff that Sphere has had for years but people have been working on that and its getting there. RUNUO has the "WORST" community I have ever seen "ANYWHERE" in an EMU which is really a shame since they could have so much more going for them. POL is pretty much toast, it is a great EMU as far as customization goes and features but the lag is a huge killer. (Just loaded 95 w/service pack2). Dev |

I refuse to read anything anybody says about RunUO, even if it?s negative, save for the subject. So I?ll just give my opinion now: it sucks (only because of the language it was written in). All other emus suck because of their incompleteness and unorganized state. What you need is a group committed to quality that isn?t just a bunch of hobby programmers that masturbate too much. Sadly, I masturbate too much and don?t play nicely enough with others to do any group project. |

RUNUO's forums looks like the Jerry Springer show...its fun for a while but you can only put up with (Paid actors) their mellow dramatic spam sucking trailor trash fag bashing antics for so long then its not funny anymore. There are people there who do go out of their way to help, dont get me wrong. They have quite a few scripters who have done a hell of a lot for the RUNUO community and they make good product. The problem comes from the leaders (the head lemming) who runs around shooting his mouth off about everything and pretending to be god of the EMU set. I thought my ego was HUGE but damn...this man makes me look like a guppy next to a sperm whale *no comment*. Read the forums here...at Lone wolf, Wolf Pack, POL, and then go read the RUNUO Forums. If it dont club you over the head whats wrong then you need to read them all again. You will see the difference. (Oh dont forget to read mine! *wink*) Signed, That Evil Bastard! Dev Viperrious |

I bet I'm ten-fold as cocky. And that's a cocky thing to say! |

Not looking at community's here, who needs them ![]() RunUO is a decent emu, there are just a few glitches.. In my opinion it uses way too many resources, and its verrrry annoying to restart for every script update. Yet it performs a lot better than most other emu's. I'm a big sphere lover, I agree the performance isn't the best but it's easy to use, very customizable and with a few tricks you can do pretty much anything on it (I'm talking about 55R3 here, 1.0 is terrible). |

*puts up his nox wizard rules sign* runuo needs to much ressources, does not run under linux, as mono (.net for linux) cant handle .xmls yet and c# is a professionell programming language, which is hard to learn and who wants to leran such a language if he doesn't want to become a programmer? runuo has a lot of great features, as static freezing and melting, but i couldn't use it, even if i wanted to. |
