Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I am new to RunUO and Map Making and all, 6yr vet of OSI shard. Was curious to how I can change the map oif my runuo shard and still be able to play Reg UO, is there a trick to it? I looked for some topic on it and couldnt find one. Thank you in advance for help.

If you are the operator of your RunUO shard, theres nothing more of a trick than changing files in the UO folder.
You can do it a few different ways.

If you run your shard and clients all on same machine then you have to change files when changing from OSI to your shard.
You should have a custom folder holding the nesisary *.mul files RunUO needs, and edit the directory in DataPath.cs of RunUO/Scripts/Misc to point to this folder. That way, if you change the UO files to play OSI shard, you could still leave your RunUO shard running.
Also, somthing that is usefull, Rename your Ultima Online folder to "MyShard" or somthing, and reinstall UO (without uninstalling) When you are done, you now have a custom UO install for your shard, and a clean install for OSI..
Play your shard, rename the clean install to "OSI_UO" and yours back to "Ultima Online 2D" and vise versa, I do that often, and it works great. Saves time from changing files all the time.

I tried to do as u suggested in another post of yours, changing the datapath.cs but it wouldnt work for some reason, i copied all the files needed to another folder and changed path but it didnt work. Also i dont have a file named verdata.mul in UO dir.

Post subject:  Another Question

If I do this will my players all have to download the new map files in order to play?

Yes, both the client and the server need to be using the same map files.

unfortunatly thats why many people make (small maps) or dont do custom maps at all, because it requires the players to download files, but any true player dosent care its just like patching, especially if the creator did a good job..
