Noone replied to this one, so I will, just for fun  ...
I do it mostly for a challenge, I sort of consider myself a programmer, and like trying new things. (POL was booring tho, so going to use RunUO know, cus I *should* already know C# anyways  )
And ofc partly to be god, It's kinda fun to be the all mighty one, tho then again, when you have to delete your friends chars cus they cheat  .

What about: There is no other way of expressing your ideas on a game? I have so many ideas that would fit in really nice with an UO shard, and the only way to make a shard completely following my line of ideas we have to make our own.
