Post subject:  Trees not placing with Dragon

Ok, when I orginally ran my .bmp map through Dragon/DragonSP, there were practically no trees. So I went into items.txt in the script folder and I changed this line:

01 0130 0000 0000 6143 4095 forest.txt

To this:

01 0990 0000 0000 6143 4095 forest.txt

in an attempt to increase the forest density. I ran my map through Dragon/DragonSP again and there are entire continents which are the color of standard forests with not one single tree standing. What am I doing wrong? Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

:D

One, do you mean that parts of your map have trees, and other parts do not?

If so, might be a few senarios..
Are you using a spray can efect with grass/forest mixed?
-- DragonSP randomizes its placement according to your Items.txt file, and if you dont have enough tile radius of forest, it can actually not even recognize the forest tiles at all..

Are you positive you are using the correct forest color of the pallet..
--If you have added a forest group to a different color from MapTrans.txt you will need to add that differend group to Items.txt as well

Are you sure you are using a compatible pallete..
-- Not sure what to tell you here, really. Alot depends on the paint program you use.

A few things to look at:
Now you didn't say if you are getting any other statics placed or not. Did you select the forest script in DragonSP? Are you sure that your colors are right. Did you doublecheck your maptrans.txt?
And while you are testing to determine all this be sure to change that 0990 back to 0130 because if you do get it to work that will put trees on every square which is going to make it take longer. 0130 is a pretty high density placement as is.

I created the map with Dragon Mod 9 and Paint Shop Pro 7. Actually, I was using the spray can effect to create my forests, which might the cause of the problem. And yes, there are trees placed on my map, but they are extremely sparse. I'll re-do the map with a solid forest color instead of the spray can effect and I'll tell you all how it went. Dian, Stormcrow, I appreciate your help.
