Well there are different ways you could acheive that...

1. Green acres. Green acres isn't used for anything really, so you could make another (tiny) world there. Couldn't be very big, though, unless you didn't mind erasing some of the dungeons/caves.

2. Ilshenar. That's a completely seperate map supported by some emulators. It's quite large (not as large as the original map, though) and should be big enough for whatever you want.

3. Facets. Again, some shards support this. Facets are like duplicates of the original map, only with different items, NPCs, and players. Sort of like different dimensions from a bad episode of the twilight zone. Trammel and Felucca are facets on commercial shards.

Hope this helps.

1: For server specific questions, you should go to the appropiate site, in this case, www.sphereserver.com . But, newer versions of Sphere do. (This is covered in another post here)

2: The map is part of the client, and not related to the server you are using. A custom map (map0.mul) will work with any server. As far as how, try reading the map making tutorial found on this very site. Once you've read and understood that, go through and read through the other posts in the forums.

3: Any that you want. But for editing the map, I recomend UOX .70x or UOXC. (This is also covered in another post)

Well, to correct Ry on a few points...

1. Do as Ry said, go to the sphere web site.

2. Map0.mul is the original map. Map2.mul is Ilshenar (the one you would want to edit). I'm not sure if all map editors support Map2.mul. Contrary to what Ry said, map2.mul is *NOT* supported by every server. ;-)

3. I think Sphere does support map2.mul, but I would check the specific features just to be sure. I could be wrong, but again, contrary to what Ry said, I don't think UOXC or UOX .70x support map2.mul, so you'll probably have to use some other emulator for editing the maps as well. Maybe UOXC supports it though, you might want to check.

And to Ry: Read the entire thread next time, he doesn't want to edit the original map, he's asking about Ilshenar (map2.mul) ;-)

*throw peanuts back at Syd*

Yeah, you're right, I didn't read it right..
As for editing the map2.mul, currently, it is not possible. Supposedly, Dragon 1.05 PR6 can, but I've not been able to get it to work.

Maybe the next version of SMC will support it, if there is another version.
