I have photoshop 6.0.1.

Can you tell me if i realy need 5.5 or 6.0.1 work perfectly?

I don't use 5.5 any more. I use 7.0 with no problems. There may be an issue with actions with 6.0 (1) maybe though.

Overall, version number should matter as most of the techniques are the same, except maybe in the menus differently.

Photoshop 6.1 works fine for me. It really doesn't matter what paint program you use. The only thing you have to be aware of is that the tips and techniques posted may have to be adjusted according to what version of what paint program you use and what the author uses.
