What I mean is. Two maps. One map would indicate Z coordinates. Second would indicate type.

First it would run through the Z coordinates remembering those heights. Then it would run through the item placement type putting them on the Z coordinates indicated on the first map. Purpose? 256 is so limited when its suppose to indicate type and height. With these separate suddenly 256 is alot more. And it helps keep things separate. Easier to say put a number of hills and gullies for example then draw type in what ever pattern around these hills

I hope people get what I mean by this :?

This is the premise of SMC/TBC. However, it doesn't do automatic transitions or item placement, as I've mentioned.

Bascially it takes one file (not really a bmp, but close enough) and is true color, so you can place any tile type.
The second file is for altitude only and is a 256 grey-scale. This allows for every possible z value allowed in the map.

And no, it's not ready yet to be released, sorry. A few more days.

Wow, sounds great! Christmas come early I see :D I guess i'll have to wait and see how it works.

What does SMC/TBC stand for?

I bet its a real challenge to determine which shade of grey is which level by looking at it or even to be able to tell one grey from another that are only one level apart.

SMC = Sydius' Mac Convertor
TBC = True-color Bitmap Convertor

The names are not quite accurate though, other than Sydius did make them.

They will come with a guide of sorts, similiar to how the colortable.bmp is included with Dragon.

So its two programs that work as one?

Author:  Sydius [ Thu Jun 26, 2003 6:17 pm ]

No, one program that does both. Give it a true-color image representing tile IDs, and a grayscale image representing altitude, and it will spit out the map.

As for TBC ? that?s all Ry. He gave me so much shit about the word ?bitmap? that I about killed him. So I just gave in and allowed him to name it that.

Oh TSMC takes images and spits out a map.

TBC takes a map and spits out images.

That clear it up?
