Hi Ryandor and all, I'm normally a lurker here on your forums, but I've just started map design again and I am running into a specific problem. I'm going to try to post the screenshot here, but if it shows up as a red "X" please visit this url: http://web.tampabay.rr.com/pirates/coast.gif

Hopefully you can see that. I get this problem only with a few orientations of land-to-water. Dragon ( or DragonSP) just doesn't want to draw those tiles. Have you ever seen this problem before? Sorry if I am missing something obvious.

Yeah I think that's pretty normal. Some angles it just doesn't like to cover up. We manually walked our entire coastline (rivers & oceans) and added in the missing tiles here and there.

Hehe I was afraid you'd say that

Thanks for the speedy reply! I've always been very impressed with the mutual support offered on this forum.

Post subject:  another thing to keep in mind

Hi,

yeah the coastline has gotten alot better (hat's off to Ryandor) with MOD9 than it was in MOD8.

I still prefer MOD8 for other reasons I won't get into here. But something to keep in mind is that if you are having a problem with a certian kind of texture and water you can alwasy try using another type of texture and water.

IE: If you getting problems with "Forest" and "Water" at the coastline, you could always end the forest and use "Grass" and "Water" as I've found that Grass and Water make the best coast lines.

Also keep in mind the 2 pixel rule, never have a "Single jagged pixel" of grass or water as this will almost always cause problems. Make sure you always have 2-3 pixels when cornering and contouring the landmass. The smoother the contours of your landmass the better dragon can build transitions and coastline.

Hope this helps =)
