Seems like this would be something already talked about, but search didn't come up with anything so here goes...

items.txt requires that I supply a number that is simply defined as 'changetoplace.' I'm not sure what this does. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

The files that items.txt refers to (such as alpine.txt) give me the ability to specify the frequency of the items I am placing. I'm not quite sure how this number works. First off, is it in hex? I assume that 0001 would render a very low amount of that item but there always seems to be more than I would expect. Do frequencies of multiple items in one txt document somehow relate to each other? For instance, would there be just as many items 177b in this script:

0001 177b 0000 0000 0000 0000
0001 177c 0000 0000 0000 0000

as there would be in this script:

0001 177b 0000 0000 0000 0000

or is it based on a ratio of all the items listed? Answers to these questions will help a lot so thanks in advance for any help.

The number is can be thought of as a percentage. Think xxx.x% of the tiles will be covered.
For example:
07 0008 0000 0000 6143 4095 alpine.txt
would be like 000.8% of the tiles in snow, an item is placed from the alpine.txt file

This may not be exact, but it's the way I think of it. It's also decimal in this case. It's semi-related to the first number in each item text file (like alpine.txt) in that it controls the overall text file, whereas the number in each text file controls each item listed.
Does this help?

Yeah that definately helps thanks. I'm still a little confused about the math / logic behind it but at least now I know they both relate to the number of items placed. Now that I have a better grasp I'll be able to do some tweaking.

Thanks again
