Post subject: | Ok, im new to this, but I wanna make maps |
Ok, Ive been looking around, and I cant seem to find a map editor that works. Ive tried worldforge and some wierd error keeps appearing (read beyond end of file) and the map doesnt appear. Ive downloaded dragon, and it seems simple enough. I dont know how to use it and I need help. From what ive seen of dragon, u take a picture and make it into a map file. I get that, zoom into max and each dot represents a square, i guess. But what I want todo is design my own map or dungeon, with items and all. Can somone who is an expiranced map maker for uo shards help me. Ryandor, the maker of this site, maybe you can being that u started all dis. Right now my ICQ is down, but can you help me learn how to make nmy own map with the works. I think I can make the terrian, bmp wise, but thats it. ![]() My e-mail is Draconothejade@hotmail.com Anyone else who knows der stuff help me too!! ![]() |

I strongly suggest reading -everything- in the FAQ forum here first. Then experimenting a bit yourself. If you have questions beyond that, ask away. We're better at solving problems and anwering questions than we are at just 'from beginning to end, do this and this and that' type help hehe. (At least I know I am) As far as items go, you gotta place items like buildings, signs, doors, etc. yourself. Using a gm tool like Axis or Accomplice or Xuri's Worldbuilder or Hand of Dundee (whatever emu you use has one) you can make the building process much easier. Trees and rocks and edging around water and such are added by dragonsp after you make your map. The land mass itself (mountains, grass, water) is done with dragon from the BMP image you create in adobe photoshop or other art program. |

Need to know what emulator you use first ![]() If UOX (or probably a UOX spinoff) it'd be at http://uox3dev.net for a link to accomplice or worldbuilder If Sphere it'd be http://sphere-axis.sf.net If POL it'd be at http://pol.tumbolia.org |

Not to stop you in your tracks, but I do not support any other version of Dragon except 1.03.62. Any of the newer version (PR5, etc) do not work 100% with my scripts. In the long run you can get better help if use Dragon 1.03.62 and want to use my scripts. My scripts have additional features that the "standard" scripts have, and there's not much english support for the newer version. You can get 1.03.62 here on my site in the downloads page. As RoseThorn said, read through the FAQs and even in here as there is quite a good amount of information on Dragon. I'll also mention that MSPaint really isn't the best for map making as you don't have 100% control over the pixels easily. If you are in a pinch you can use I.Mage (link in the download page). It works better than MSPaint. If you still want to use MSPaint, the easiest way to get started is to open the colortable.bmp so you have all the colors available to you and use the color picker to choose the color you want to paint with. Again, read all the FAQs and good luck. -Ryandor |

Accomplice and WB are UOX tools, HoD is a POL tool. If you're using Sphere, you'll need Axis. I think the latest version is 0.13.2. My pic is a shrunken version of this: http://www.tragena.net/images/hydra.jpg which I found on http://www.dorianart.com |

Also, Accomplice can be modified for any server. It is completely scriptable and if you know the commands tha can be sent to the server, you can do just about anything with Accomplice. Think MiniMythil on steroids. -Ryandor |
