I'm taking a stab at having a building partially inside and outside of mountain. To do this, I first laid out a rectangle of 30 high mountain (this is part of a village that's about 22 high) and placed the building on top of the mountain. I estimated the length between the back (undermountain) and front (outside) ends, and went back to photoshop, where I replaced the estimated mountain tiles with cave floor. Processed, reloaded, everything's fine. Loaded up worldforge and applied the 'cave making' concept by laying down 90 high mountain on top of the cave floor area.

So far, so good. You can't get through the mountain, but I can easily tele inside and walk around.

Unfortunately, this is where I'm stuck. I attempted to make a cave entrance, but the building under the mountain is two stories, and that high a cave entrance not only looks weird, but it fights with the walls for visibility.

Has anyone tried this? Can it even be done?

First of all "Anything" can be done, you just have to toy with it or sucker soneone else into doing all the hard work for you! :P

If your going to place a building two stories tall underground and one story above ground then you need to make the mountains a "LOT" higher if you want to fit stuff like that in it.

If you just want to place an entrance to the under mountain area use "No Draw" tiles not cave entrance tiles, it will leave a much cleaner opening and require less room to use. You can also place an invisible teleporter pad to move people back and forth like the entrance to Hythloth in UO.

You can post screen shots so we can see what your talking about, that would help in case the above doesnt help.

aha! that did the trick. I thought of the no draws, but I also thought they would just put the edge of the mountain back one tile. Not the case! Thanks.

Now I just have to mod the set of 'top of cave' tiles and change all the black to no draw so it'll look cleaner...
