Hi, I am not sure what stupid thing I did.. but I created a map and the water is all -5 and the coastlines are all made with 0 green. I wanted to test the map just to get a feel for how big the continents really where so I could start making mountains and things of that nature. To do this I filled in all the continents with 0 green for now. I did not run DragonSP so the coastline looks kinda shitty. That I understood I did wrong. What I don't understand is... I cant walk on the grass. I have to use .mtele to get around! Can someone help me? I am testing this on a POL server btw and ummm we are having problems putting the map file into POL. Could that be the reason that since the server didn't have it it caused problems?

POL caches the map files in its own smaller format, so even if you pointed POL to the new files, it is likely still using its already-made smaller format ones. So, in essence, collision detection is still being based on the original map.

There are two ways to fix this: disable the use of the cached files (an option in the POL configuration file), or delete the smaller files which will force POL to recreate them. I would highly recommend just disabling the use of them until you are done working on your map, though, because it takes a while for POL to generate those files and doing it every time you edit something is a pain.

ah ok thanx!!! thats very helpful!!! if that is all that is wrong then i guess i can start trying to work on the other terrains. thanks so much... just wondering one thing though... um i read SOMEWHERE on here i dont remember exactly where that you can take homes from OSI and just edit them instead of building all the homes from scratch. Where would i find the homes and how exactly do i go about doing that?

There are tools which allow you to copy parts of the map and place it on other maps wherever you want (namely UOCopy). It?s a straight-forward program to use and doesn?t take a rocket scientist to figure out.

I believe there are others still which allow you to export/import static areas, but I don?t have any experience with any of them.

Your client map files and your server map files must be the same. If you set up and identified a new path for your server files ( in your datapath.cs so you could use the freeze/unfreeze commands) you will have to be sure your server files (the ones in your freeze folder) and your client files (the ones in your original Ultima Online folder) are the same.
