Just a quick question that cane uo to my mind when I was reading something about WF: Does it make Z level transitions? Or does it make two plain tiles in two different Z level?

I'm not sure if I understand what your asking doc.

Worldforge does to z level transitions yes. Actually, what happens is this, if you place say z5 and z7 grass tiles next to each other, worldforge will mark that map so that the client will use a texture to stretch over that area as opposed to making two tiles that are going to be more like they where stacked. You get what I'm saying? I'll send you a screen shot if it's confusing. Just remember that if you want to make a surface hilly that it has to have a texture for the terrain you're using.

You actually only would have to create a texture for custom tiles as I'm pretty sure UO comes with textures for most it's terrain types. Getting into making custom tiles is getting a little advance however, so we'll cover that later when you feel like you want to tackle something like that.

Short answer, yes worldforge does z level transitions.

The first paragraph answers my question. That's what I meant. Thanks.
I am working on a LOTR map, and I want to learn how to do certain things to make the map a little more... uhmmm how may I put it?... "real". With all those kinds of bumps in certain areas and stuff. :P

Oh, almost forgot! When I read the map making tutorial (Ryandor's) I found somehing quite strange. "Rivers in terrain" spot says that Dragon does not make transition from river to High Z level areas or sth like that. Is this true? Can't I make areas like the one of Lord British's Casttle where water is at Z=0 and grass at Z=30 which makes a cliff?

LOL! :P
Well, I'm a long way far from finishing it now that I know how to do certain things, so it will have to wait! :P

el doc about the rivers, it makes bad transition from say z20 grass to water z10 so i do it this way, where you drop the grass then level it out right before the water, this makes for a smoohter transition for inland rivers

Code:
_____                             ______
      \                          /
        \                       /
          \ ___            ___ /
                 | water |

get it?

Yes, I guess. That means that I cannot do this?

Code:
_____                     ______  Grass Z=30
      \                 /
        \             /
          \         /
           | water |                        Water Z=-5
