What heights do you commonly use for your map terrains? In otherwords, what heights do you use for the majority if your ocean and your land masses?

I'm specifically interested to hear what you think works the best for terrain merges between water to land. I'm experimenting right now and I think I'm putting my land too low. There is almost no shoreline and absolutely no cliff effect. What do you all use? Thanks!

For mod11 you need to use water 5 lower than the surrounding terrain. Ocean has to be at -5, so the water surrounding it needs to be at -5 and the land at 0. However you can do inland lakes and rivers at different altitudes, just make the water 5 lower than the land. Because of the way I recalculated the scripts, they don't look right at larger heights. It was a tradeoff.

What is the difference between ocean at -5 and water at -5? Do I need to merge from -5 ocean to -5 water before I hit land? I took a look at one of my test maps and realized I wasn't using -5 ocean at all. My entire water mass was using -5 water.

Yep just use -5 Ocean except around any of your landmasses where you will need to use the -5 Water, this is what is used to transition over to the land properly.

Sort of works along the same line as the old OSI map where there is actually a hollow area around all the landmasses if you removed the statics.

Great! That's exactly what I needed to know. I'm working on some practice maps to get the transitions down.

I know mountains are a serious discussion. What do you all use to transition from grass into mountains? Do you start with a +5 transition from the grass height and then go up from there (i.e. +10 grass to +15 mountain)? Or do you go directly to higher mountains at various heights (i.e. +10 grass to +35 mountain)? What have you found works best with Dragon Mod 11?

Thanks for your help!
