Post subject:  dragon is jacking up my maps...

Hey whenever i design something a map then put it through dragon to make the mul file it gives me crazy-ass results.... let me illustrate

First off I am using the mod-9 color palette provided with dragon . . .

The map I'm working on was just a flat snow covered island (pretty boring i suppose, but needed for a story line)
after it ran through dragon about every six squares for the whole map the elevation raised about the height of a UO character . . . it was standard across the whole map, looked like rolling hills.

Also in random places there would be land in the ocean and vice versa....
any ideas? bad install? any other recommended programs for making muls?

any help/links will get you worshipped.

thanks,

stupiduser

Sounds to me like it?s an issue with the colors you use when making the map. Are you making it in true-color then converting it to the palette or making it with the palette in 256-color mode to begin with? Are you using the ?pencil? tool or a brush?

As for alternatives, there?s my program: TSMC, which can be found at my web site (click the link in my quote). More powerful, but does less on its own ? you will need accompanying programs (transitions, UO Coast, World Forge) to make good maps. It?s probably a lot harder to figure out than Dragon, too, though.
