Would you like to work with two BMPs one with terrain type and the other with terrain height?

OK, I had an idea after reading some of the other posts here, I don't know if this has been mentioned before, so pardon me if it has.

I was thinking that instead of limiting the type of tiles you can work with by forcing one 8-bit palette on one image, why not have two images, one with an 8-bit palette for the terrain type and another with an 8-bit palette for the terrain height.

So, whaddya think?

For me, that would be the best way. It would make adjusting the terrain a bit easier and allow you to have much more variation in the terrain. That way, it would make transitions from one terrain type to another much more fluid and natural.

So, Ryandor, do you think this is a possibility? To everyone else, do you think this would be a desireable feature?

For what program?
Dragon doesn't support it.
UOL that is how it is done.

I am Italian, excused my English: I am using babel fish.
I am much pleasing one to Ryandor and Stormcrow for the job carried out on the mod of Dragon 9, 9+, 10 and 11. :D
But I creed has arrived the moment to make one version of definitive Dragon on which working and developing. :?
I have personally not ended one map for one shard Italian, because there isn't a version of Dragon without bug and unique color palette... :?
Every version has one different palette color. :?
I know it that you have worked a lot for these MOD, but why not tried to join the forces all entirety in order to make an only program?
I do not know the programming well, but I know the problems that are derive to you from the many MOD.
You excuse to me if they are allowed to speak to me about this: I am attended of the ulterior modifications to the MOD11.

I'm great at adding more work for programmers :)

You could have a drop down list box which allows users to choose which palette scheme they have used...just a thought. That way all maps would be compatible.

We can't though. Only Darus could do something like that, and last I knew he wasn't planning on it. The only thing the rest of us can do are modify the scripts.

Thanks. I think ;)
Ry and I have worked together on all of these mods more or less. There is no definitive mod because it's largely a matter of personal preference. Mod 10 I would not recommend using. Mod 11 has all of the newest updates, as well as a more manageable color table. It will probably be the last Dragon mod until Darus comes out with a new version of Dragon.

I don't know what "I am attended of the ulterior modifications to the mod11" means.

Also keep an eye out for UOL. We are making very rapid progress on it and I think DKnight will be ready for a public release in the near future. UOL does a few things that Dragon currently is not capable of, such as 3-way transitions and support for up to 256 terrain groups.

Stormcrow, continued therefore: you have made a great job. I would want only one what if possible: to arrange the script of the coasts N and W therefore we do not use WF in order to by hand modify. To work by hand is not comes perfect like using a program like dragon.
