Post subject: | Mod 11 Cave walls + Forests in Mod 9 |
After testing out Mod 11 I decided it would be easier just to finish off my current map in Mod 9, without having to go through the trouble of re-adjusting some of my colours to match the Mod 11 palette. However, one thing I really liked in Mod 11 was how the cave walls were made, along with the forests to match a more cleaner OSI look. I was wondering if there is a way I can edit the scripts to give me this look with Mod 9? |

Probably the easiest solution would be to replace the mod11 maptrans and colortable with mod9. It shouldn't break anything. Shouldn't being the key word, I haven't tried it. |

If you want to use the mod 9 maptrans with mod 11, you'll need to edit it a little, or else use the maptrans105 instead. The mod 10 and 11 maptrans incorporate the "groups" into the maptrans file, while mod 9 uses a separate "groups" file. I map be wrong (and please correct me if I am! :), but it seems like it would be easier just to replace the "forest.txt" file in your "Scripts/Items" folder with the Mod 11 version, assuming you're just talking about statics. You could do the same with the "black2cavewalls" (or whatever file it is), just make sure that the names are the same. Hope this helps, -Janice aka Sparkle! |

Oh. I didn't realize he meant the statics, if so then yes, what Kirax said. Just replace the files. As for the maptrans, that is because I'm using the newer Dragon core in mod10 and 11, it doesn't use the groups.txt file. You can use that core with mod9 as well, you just have to rename the maptrans105 to maptrans (get rid of the 1.36.2 maptrans). |

I couldn't find the proper black2caves.txt or whatever it was in Mod11 that I liked to replace the other one with so I guess I'll have to make do with Mod 9's. As for the forests I solved the problem thanks ![]() |
