could something like this be done with gimp?
cause i try to download at least a trial of photoshop but i'm only a user on my dad's comp so i cannot install anything (win/2000)

Actually, it should be able to handle it. At one time I did download gimp to play around with it for making a map, but was having problems creating an indexed color bmp. But then I've been using Photoshop so long, it was hard to adjust. By all means it would be worth trying, so go for it.
If you do figure out how, do let me know. If you could put together a how-to, that would be even better!
Let me know how you do either way.

its not your computer its photo shop
I am running XP on mine and i can not get it to work
it started to load up the files and when it gets to the fonts it crashes on me

No, it's his computer.

Basically if you're a user, the admin can set it so you can't install anything. Like a security feature.

Me and Ry are both runing XP, and we don't have any problems runing Photoshop, either. :-)

Isn't GIMP only for UNIX?? I tried downloading and unzipping it and didn't have a program that unzipped .tar.

Gimp is available for Windows. You can find it here:

ftp://ftp.arnes.si/software/gimp-win/gi ... -setup.zip

The gimp website doesn't make it really clear about the windows version.

I can't say I reccomend it 100% since it can be quite tweaky, but since you can't get Photoshop working, anything is worth a shot at this point.
