Post subject:  Strange Hole in a map?

Hello from Endore. Long time no see ;)
We are alive and still working, almost at the end of beta period.

But I have strange problem with my map.

Take a look at that please.
http://angrenost.org/~morandir/problem.jpg

We are using POL95 (far from core scripts now) so I'll try to repost this problem on their forum but lets try. Problem is that. On the DoH or InsideUo view everything is ok as you can see. But in game thereis is a strange black hole - non walkable. What is more strange that there are many holes in that area some of them even have statics items on them but they are still black and non walkable.

I've checked it on UOX0.7x so probably it is not an emu problem.

Anybody? Any idea?:)

Thats the client's "black line", OSI uses it to prevent people from going/seeing green acres/T2A, not much you can do about it.

Nope, it is not a map end - on this screenshot I am at x 5124 y 1474.

Yeah, and 5120 is the end line between map-dungeonmap. Always has been. Where you been?

What Stormcrow said ;)
That line is not a map end

Have you seen screenshot?
It is custom map. There is no ONE big hole - here or there about these coordinates are some strange holes (only in map - statics are building well). And another strange thing is that whole map (picture from doh, or viewed in insideUO) is okay.

Copy the OSI map back and look at those coords.. Then look in HoD, its the same thing.. The client draws that line there, it doesnt matter which map you use, it puts it there.

its in the client howevere so you might tey some of thsoe custom clients out there.....they might have that fixed..

or another thing you could do since that line goes across entire map is about 10 tiles back all around it give each tile a teleporter feature so it auto sends you to the other side of the gap? *shrugs* might work

Ok guys I'll copy OSI map and post result here.

BUT the problem occurs only near that coords. About same X and the other Y (lets say 500 points higher) there are no problems at all.

If your theory is right than there should be problems as well.

If you have some spare time please try to download my map and look at it. Maybe than some suggestions will jump up ;)

Crap Crap Crap

I was just about to ask for this damn line, it really brought me some new gray hair *looks like an 80 year old* :?

Well, guess i have to make some changes to my map now :x

Hm, how wide is that line ? Is it just one Tile broad or several ?

@Morandir,
I've looked at your map and it's exacly the problem i have got, too.
If this is drawn by the client, the only help would be a custom client that is modified in a way to avoid this. This black line goes from top to bottom and i even get client crashes sometimes if i walk through (newest aos client)... ah, i'm lucky that this black line is only cutting my dungeon zone and not, as in your case, through the landscape. :?

So take a look at that

On a radar map I'm on the grass and left from me there is only blackness.
By on the main screen as you can see there some strange things.

I may give you right if there would be one kind of "line" between dungeons (green acres) and the rest of the map. But in my opinion it looks like some problems with dragon scripts (not only Ryandor mods - on "clean" Dragon thereis the same problem).

Looks like a dragonsp issue to me. Did you edit scripts? Though, that still doesn't explain some things. But it might help if you used a clean version of dragon. Also, if you are now using mod 10 stuff, they dont use some of the old colors (I think) so it might turn out as blackness.

YOU CAN NOT BUILD ACROSS THE 5119/5120 LINE.
Stop wasting time trying to analyze it. It has nothing to do with Dragon, you can't even produce that kind of effect with Dragon, because the textures would have to wrap to something. Differences in elevation across the line however, would produce exactly what you are seeing.

Shouldnt the client connect the eastern/western and southern/northern sides then? So the black line would be replaced with that?

Author:  Ya [ Fri Apr 16, 2004 3:34 am ]
Post subject:

Stormcow said it. Building across the line will result in loads of "bugs" that are not wanted. What happened on Morandirs screen is a typical result of that, as i can tell you from my own experience with this line. In my case the line went through some dungeons and after i've shortened the dungeon area up to this line and filled the cutted off side with water everything was fine. So what is seen on the screenshot can only be solved by avoiding anything on this line, except black/nodraw (i think).

Thanks a lot we'll try to do sth with it - I'll post our solution.

Post subject:

Not at exactly for map forum but at least a solution. We are using POL (095) and our scripter made some kind of mass teleporter - it works like virtual bridge over this hole.
