Hi all,
got a little question here, hope some of you guys now what to do.
To keep it short: What is the best compression method to keep the map0.mul file as small as possible? (no worldforge patching please)
Surely there is the method of using WinRar, but is there an other program somebody of you might have experienced to make it small enough for our friends with the slow connections? :P

UG (my future incarnation of TSMC) will do really good map compression. Really simple compression, at that, but since it?s designed specifically for that format (and will work for no other), it?s much better than the usual. Until my shameless self-advertising comes true, though, use RAR.

use winace, as rara archivs often get crc errors when up and downloading them.

hmm, not had any trouble with rar files at all, but if you intend to allow player patching with UO Gateway, I would just use WinRar from the start, Its what UO Gateway requires.

WinRar is the best one I've found. Have never had any error with it but I get them with WinAce sometimes.

*does not want to wait for rar to compress the map0.mul so ppl will have to download it "as is", too* :P
