On my map (for those of you who have seen it) i want one continent to be a regular happy good looking forest. On the other continent i want to have a desolation type effect to the forest. Is there anyway i can do this in dragon or would i have to manually add each tree in game? |

its possible. as far as i know whe had this thread already. you have to edit the items.txt and do a second forrest script with the ietms you want to place. |

Its not possible at all. Trammel and Felucca use the exact same statics files. Unless you put the entire felucca facet in the Dif files.. You can just edit your trees to what you want them to be like in Trammel.. and after that, use the season efect for Desolation on Felucca.. as it should be.. The Client already manipulates the trees and stuff to look dead for that season (facet). |

Huh? Sure it is. Just don't use the seasons. Place dead trees and stuff via script. The tutorial Mat is refering to I wrote some time ago, it's under tutorials. |

doh, I read it wrong.. thought he meant The other Facet.. Tram/Felucca,, but he was talking about different continents. ![]() Dragon has ability to define areas by Min/Max X, Y areas for the static item placment, yeah. |

For RunUO i think it is a script called seasons. just change the fellucia season to 0 |

He doesn't want seasons. Seasons affect the entire map. He wants 1 area to be normal and another area to be desolate. |

Ok i know little about scripting but maybe it is possible to do something using the regions script. This is best put on RunUO |

RunUO does not come with any default Season script, The seasons are defined within RunUOs script called MapDefinitions.cs and they are simply set to one specific season, period. There is a submitted Season changer scripts on the RunUO forums that will change the seasons using DateTime. Regions really have nothing to do with the Seasons, but I suppose you could have certain regions change the season of that area... not sure why you would want to do this though.. |

I suppose if you wanted to have different seasons in different parts of your map it would be useful. |

the season is a client issue, and would change the entire clients view, not the actual shard or map, or anyone else's view for that matter.. and is why I said I couldnt see why you would want to define different seasons within different regions on one map/facet ![]() Besides, when a season is altered from running from point A to point B, the client skips.. and is really anoying should it happen in small areas.. |

Is there anyway i can do this in dragon or would i have to manually add each tree in game?" Ok, this is possible but a bit tricky. There are two ways i can think of... First: take your map.bmp and divide it into two peices, one peice w/ happy tree's one peice with dead tree's. Run dragonSP twice , once for each section and modify the scripts accordingly in the forest.txt. THere are some programs out there that will allow you to copy a section of your maps statics so do that and paste it onto the other map. it's just a matter of merging the two peices. 2nd: There is a script for dragonSP that prevents statics from being placed in an area (works great to keep stones or brush out of area's that will be towns), just make off your dead forest with that area then run SP. Change the scripts, mark off the rest of the map (so that statics only apply to that forest area) and rerun SP. wa-la. like dian said, seasons wont affect the map, they will only be "static" oh well, seasons suck anyway. |

@dionysis Both of those solutions are overly complicated. While it scares many people, it is still a lot simpler to modify the scripts so that a different item script is used for each area of forest. |
